According to a report from ESPN’s Shams Charania early Wednesday afternoon, three-time All-Star guard Bradley Beal has agreed to a buyout with the Phoenix Suns. Beal now plans to sign a two-year, $11 million contract with the Los Angeles Clippers.

The second year of the deal is a player option for 2026-27, so Beal can opt out if he wants and be an unrestricted free agent next summer.

The former one-and-done player at the University of Florida was given permission by the Suns to explore his options with other teams in recent weeks. Beal and his camp led by Mark Bartelstein of Priority Sports (per Shams) had conversations with the Heat, Lakers, Timberwolves and Bucks before deciding on the Clippers, who recently traded Norman Powell and were in search of a proven scorer at shooting guard.

Beal will now slide into a lineup that features James Harden, Kawhi Leonard, John Collins and Ivica Zubac. The Clippers also have quality reserve players like Bogdan Bogdanovic, Nic Batum and Brook Lopez.

The Clippers only have remaining cap space for a veteran minimum signing, and they’re hoping to talk Chris Paul into taking that and returning to the franchise.

Phoenix owed Beal another $110 million on his contract. Beal agreed to give back 13.9 million, so the Suns are basically paying him $96.1 million to leave town.

Beal was the #3 overall pick in the first round of the 2012 NBA Draft when he was selected out of UF by the Washington Wizards. He played for the Wizards for 11 seasons, leading them to five postseason appearances and three trips to the Eastern Conference semifinals.

In the summer of 2023, Washington sent Beal to Phoenix for Chris Paul, Landry Shamet and second-round picks. In his first year with the Suns, he played in 53 regular-season games and averaged 18.2 points, 5.0 assists, 4.4 rebounds and 1.0 steals per game.

Beal buried 51.3 percent of his field-goal attempts, 43.0 percent of his 3-pointers and 81.3 percent of his free throws. In four postseason contests, he averaged 17.5 points, 4.5 assists and 2.8 RPG. He drained 43.5 percent of his treys.

Beal played in 53 regular-season games again this past year. He averaged 17.0 points, 3.7 assists, 3.3 rebounds and 1.1 SPG. Beal made 49.7 percent of his FGAs, 38.6 percent of his 3-pointers and 80.3 percent of his free throws.

In 13 NBA seasons, the 32-year-old Beal has averaged 21.5 points, 4.3 assists, 4.1 rebounds and 1.1 SPG. His career shooting splits are 46.4/37.6/82.1.
