FanDuel and DraftKings both released their look-ahead lines Thursday for Week 4 in college football.
As of late Friday morning, both books had Miami (2-0 straight up, 1-1 against the spread) as a 6.5-point home favorite vs. Florida. DraftKings had a -115 price connected to the Hurricanes, while FanDuel had UM with a -108 price.
The Gators were +172 on the money line at FanDuel, and the total was 51.5 points. They’ll be looking to avenge a humiliating 41-17 loss to Miami as 2.5-point home underdogs in last year’s season opener.
Going into UF’s game at LSU in Week 3, Florida had a 6-3 ATS record in nine games as a road underdog during Billy Napier’s four-year tenure. However, Napier’s teams dating back to his time at Louisiana (and UF) have gone 14-6-1 ATS in 21 games as road ‘dogs during his head-coaching career. They’ve posted a 26-14-1 ATS mark in 41 overall spots as underdogs.
Miami has compiled a 7-10 ATS record in 17 games as a home favorite on Mario Cristobal’s watch. The ‘Canes will be playing their fourth straight home game vs. UF after they host South Florida in Week 3.
DraftKings has Baylor -2.5 (with a -115 price) vs. Arizona St., but FanDuel has the Bears at -3.5 (-108) vs. ASU. The Sun Devils were +130 on the money line at FanDuel, while the betting shop had the total at 60.5 points.
These teams didn’t meet in ASU’s debut campaign in the Big 12 last year. They haven’t collided since 1990 when the Sun Devils thumped Baylor 34-13 as 2.5-point home ‘chalk’ in Tempe.
ASU owns a 5-3 ATS record in eight games as a road underdog during Kenny Dillingham’s three-year tenure. Baylor is 11-7-1 ATS in 19 games as a home favorite since Dave Aranda took the gig in 2020.
DraftKings has Missouri as a three-point home favorite vs. South Carolina, but FanDuel has the Tigers at -3.5 with a total of 48.5 points (‘under’ -115, ‘over’ -105). The Gamecocks have +136 money-line odds.
Eli Drinkwitz’s squad is on a 12-game winning streak at Faurot Field going into its Week 3 home game vs. Louisiana. The Tigers are 7-6 SU in 13 head-to-head encounters with the Gamecocks since joining the SEC in 2012, but they’ll be in revenge mode after dropping a 34-30 thriller at South Carolina last season.
During Shane Beamer’s tenure at USC, it has an 8-6 spread record in 14 games as a road underdog. The Gamecocks are 4-2 ATS with two outright victories in their last six such spots. They’re hosting Vandy in Week 3.
I’m all over Mizzou’s Team Total vs. the Ragin’ Cajuns, and I LOVE the Tigers at -3 vs. South Carolina.
DraftKings has Utah -4 vs. Texas Tech, while FanDuel has the Utes as 4.5-point favorites. Kyle Whittingham’s program has produced a 35-7 SU record and a 26-16 ATS ledger in 42 home games since 2018. The Utes are 27-14 ATS in 41 games as home ‘chalk’ since 2017.
This will be Texas Tech’s first road assignment of the year. The Red Raiders, who are +146 on the money line at FanDuel, are 5-6 ATS in 11 games as road underdogs on Joey McGuire’s watch.
After going to back-to-back Rose Bowls in 2021 and 2022 with Cam Rising as its star QB, Utah struggled through 8-5 and 5-7 campaigns with Rising mostly sidelined with injuries. But Whittingham appears to be back in business this season with his new QB Devon Dampier, who was a first-team All-Mountain West selection while playing for New Mexico last year.
In his first two games with the Utes, Dampier has completed 38-of-48 passes (79.2%) for 398 yards and five touchdowns without an interception. He has 112 rushing yards and one TD, averaging 5.6 yards per carry.
FanDuel has Oklahoma installed as a 3.5-point home favorite vs. Auburn with a total of 48.5. Hugh Freeze’s team has +132 odds to win outright in Norman. However, DraftKings has the Sooners at -4.5. I made OU a four-point home ‘chalk.’
When Auburn hosted OU last season, it had a 21-16 lead and was facing a third-and-four situation in enemy territory with more than four minutes left, but that’s when Oklahoma LB Kip Lewis produced a 61-yard pick-six that sparked his team to a 27-21 win as a 1.5-point road underdog.
The Sooners are 12-6 ATS in 18 games as home favorites during Brent Venables’ four-year tenure. Meanwhile, Auburn is 3-4 ATS in seven games as a road underdog on Freeze’s watch. With that said, Auburn has already gone on the road this year and picked up a big win with its 38-24 victory at Baylor, which bounced back to win an overtime thriller at SMU last week.
Speaking of the Mustangs, DraftKings has them as four-point road underdogs at TCU. SMU will be in a back-to-back road spot after playing Saturday at Missouri St. During Rhett Lashlee’s reign in Dallas since 2022, his team is an abysmal 2-6 ATS as a road ‘dog.
TCU is 9-8 ATS in 17 games as a home favorite since Sonny Dykes replaced Gary Patterson before the 2022 campaign. The Horned Frogs opened the season with a 48-14 win at North Carolina. They had an open date in Week 2 before hosting Abilene Christian.
FanDuel has Michigan listed as a 2.5-point road favorite (-105 price) at Nebraska with a total of 44.5, but DraftKings has the Wolverines at -1.5. The Cornhuskers edged Cincinnati 20-17 as 6.5-point ‘chalk’ in their opener at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, and then they blasted Akron by a 68-0 count.
Matt Rhule’s squad hosts Houston Christian before taking on UM. Nebraska is 0-2 both SU and ATS in a pair of games as a home underdog during Rhule’s three-year tenure.
Michigan has won four games in a row over the Cornhuskers, including a 45-7 win in Lincoln two years ago.
FanDuel has Indiana as a 4.5-point home favorite vs. Illinois, but DraftKings has the Hoosiers at -3 (-105 price). I actually made the Fighting Illini a 1.5-point ‘chalk.’ FanDuel has Bret Bielema’s team with +146 money-line odds and a total of 54.5 points.
Illinois has produced profit galore for its backers as a road underdog during Bielema’s tenure, going 12-4 ATS. After blasting Duke 45-19 as a 2.5-point road favorite in Week 2, the Fighting Illini host Western Michigan ahead of its trip to Bloomington.
IU has also been a money maker as a home favorite since Curt Cignetti took the job, posting an 8-2 spread record in 10 such spots. The Hoosiers are 5-0 ATS in the last five games in this rivalry.
DraftKings has lines for three additional games that FanDuel hasn’t posted yet. The book has Notre Dame as a 30.5-point home favorite vs. Purdue, Wisconsin as a 7.5-point home ‘chalk’ vs. Maryland and USC as a 14.5-point home favorite vs. Michigan St.
The Trojans are 13-6 ATS as home favorites under Lincoln Riley, while the Spartans are 3-2 ATS as road ‘dogs since Jonathan Smith took over in East Lansing.
Maryland is an atrocious 4-13 ATS in 17 games as a road underdog during Mike Locksley’s seven-year tenure. Meanwhile, Wisconsin is 4-7 versus the number in 11 games as a home favorite on Luke Fickell’s watch. The Badgers will be coming off a road trip to Tuscaloosa, while the Terrapins are hosting Towson in Week 3.
Notre Dame is 9-8 ATS in 17 games as a home favorite under Marcus Freeman. After hosting USC this weekend, Purdue will be playing its first road game with Barry Odom when it visits South Bend.
