Miami star wide receiver Tyreek Hill dislocated his left knee and, according to multiple reports this morning, tore multiple ligaments in his knee, including his ACL, while being tackled out of bounds after making a 10-yard reception from quarterback Tua Tagovailoa during the third quarter of Monday’s 27-21 win over the New York Jets.
The 31-year-old Hill will have surgery today and could reportedly face multiple surgeries. He’s obviously out for the rest of the 2025 season and his status for the 2026 campaign could be in doubt.
Despite the devastating injury, Hill flashed several smiles and words of encouragement to his teammates as they gathered around him before he was carted off the field. He also waved to the crowd.
“He was probably in the best spirits of any player that I’ve ever seen [have] such a terrible experience,” Miami head coach Mike McDaniel said. “He immediately had wide eyes and was talking, ‘I’m good, just make sure the guys get this win.’ He was focused on the team.”
In his four seasons with the Dolphins since being acquired from Kansas City, Hill has only missed one game. He was off to a strong start last night with six catches for 67 yards.
Hill’s season ends with 21 receptions for 265 yards and one touchdown through four games. He had 81 catches for 959 yards and six TDs in 2024.
Hill is an eight-time Pro-Bowler who is in his 10th NFL season. He enjoyed his two best NFL seasons with the Dolphins in 2022 and 2023.
In 2022, Hill produced career-best numbers in receptions (119) and receiving yards (1,710), and he had seven TD catches and one rushing TD. In 2023, he hauled in 119 catches again and broke his single-season high for receiving yards with 1,799. His 13 TD receptions were the second-most in his career.
Hill has played in 145 career regular-season games, snagging 819 receptions for 11,363 yards and 83 TDs. He has 819 career rushing yards, seven TDs and a 7.2 yards-per-carry average.
Hill also has five career TDs on special teams.
Hill’s teams went to the playoffs in each of his first eight seasons in the NFL until the Dolphins fell short of the postseason last year. In 15 career postseason contests, Hill has 96 catches for 1,212 yards and six TDs. He’s added 96 rushing yards and one TD on 14 carries for a 6.9 YPC average.
Miami (1-3 straight up, 2-2 against the spread) was led by RB De’Von Achane’s 99 rushing yards and one TD on 20 totes in last night’s win. Tagovailoa completed 17-of-25 passes for 177 yards and two TDs without an interception.
As of late Tuesday morning, most books had the Dolphins as one or 1.5-point road underdogs for Sunday’s game at Carolina.
