Green Bay star quarterback Jordan Love suffered a Grade 1/2 MCL sprain in Friday’s 34-29 home loss to Philadelphia in Brazil.
The Packers have dodged a bullet here, as the injury initially looked as if it could be a season-ender. However, most reports out of Green Bay are indicating that he’ll miss anywhere from 3-6 weeks.
The Packers’ next six contests look like this: vs. Indianapolis, at Tennessee, vs. Minnesota, at the L.A. Rams, vs. Arizona and vs. Houston.
Love completed 17-of-34 passes for 260 yards and two touchdowns with one interception against the Eagles. Malik Willis replaced him and threw an incompletion on his lone pass attempt.
Love enjoyed a breakout 2023 campaign in his first year as the starter. The Utah St. product, who served as Aaron Rodgers’ backup for the first three seasons of his career after Green Bay took him with the #26 overall pick in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft, led the Packers to a 48-32 win at Dallas in last year’s NFL Wild Card round.
They led at San Francisco for most of the game before dropping a 24-21 decision in the Divisional Round.
Love was spectacular against the Cowboys, completing 16-of-21 throws for 272 yards and three TDs without an interception. In the loss to the 49ers, he connected on 21-of-34 passes for 194 yards and two TDs with two interceptions.
During 17 regular-season games last year, Love completed 64.2 percent of his passes for 4,159 yards with a 32/11 touchdown-to-interception ratio. He also produced 247 rushing yards and four TDs, averaging 4.9 yards per carry.
In 28 career games and 19 starts, Love has connected on 63.1 percent of his passes for 5,025 yards with a 37/15 TD-INT ratio. He has 273 career rushing yards and four TDs.
Without Love, Green Bay hasn’t committed to a starting QB for Sunday’s home game vs. the Colts. In addition to Willis, the Packers have Sean Clifford on the roster.
The look-ahead line had Green Bay as a 4.5-point favorite vs. Indy. However, as of early Monday afternoon, most spots had the Colts listed as three or 3.5-point road ‘chalk.’ The total was 41 points, and the Packers were +145 to +160 on the money line.
FanDuel had Green Bay with +195 odds to win the NFC North coming into the season. The Packers are now at +550.
