Let’s get you caught up on a slew of important injuries ahead of the Week 4 card.
-San Francisco EDGE Nick Bosa tore the ACL in his right knee during Sunday’s 16-15 win vs. Arizona. The 2022 NFL Defensive Player of the Year didn’t sustain damage to any other ligament, per Kyle Shanahan, so it’s considered “as clean as it gets” in terms of ACL tears. The 27-year-old Bosa partially tore the same knee as a senior in high school and tore the ACL in his left knee during Week 2 of the 2020 campaign. He was off to a fantastic start through three games, recording 17 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery. In 85 career games during his first seven seasons with the 49ers, Bosa has produced 278 career tackles, 64.5 sacks, 13 forced fumbles, nine passes broken up, five fumble recoveries and two interceptions.
-Arizona RB James Conner suffered a season-ending foot injury in the third quarter of this past Sunday’s loss at San Francisco. The 30-year-old Conner had been limited to 95 rushing yards and one touchdown on 32 attempts for a 3.0 yards-per-carry average through three games. However, the University of Pittsburgh product had 1,094 rushing yards, eight TDs and a 4.6 YPC average last year, and he produced 1,040 rushing yards, seven TDs and a 5.0 YPC average in 2023. Furthermore, Conner had 47 receptions for 414 yards and one TD in 2024. RB Trey Benson, who had 42 rushing yards on 10 carries against the 49ers, will see more usage moving forward.
–Tampa Bay WR Mike Evans is going to miss a few games with another hamstring injury.
-Dallas WR CeeDee Lamb has a high ankle sprain that’ll likely keep him sidelined for 3-4 weeks. Even worse, rookie right guard Tyler Booker, the club’s first-round pick, has a high ankle sprain that’s expected to keep him out of uniform for 4-6 weeks. The Cowboys’ offensive line is already down starting center Cooper Beebe, who sprained his ankle in Week 2 and was given a 6-8 week timeline for his return. According to owner and GM Jerry Jones, Dallas will see how Lamb’s swelling goes in the next day or two before determining if he’ll go on IR (and be required to miss at least four games). Lamb had 16 receptions on 24 targets for 222 yards through three games. He had 101 catches for 1,194 yards and six TDs last year.
-Los Angeles Chargers RB Najee Harris tore his Achilles in Sunday’s win over Denver and will miss the remainder of the season. Harris missed nearly all of training camp after injuring himself with a fireworks mishap on the Fourth of July, but he had played in all three games. He had 61 rushing yards on 15 attempts for a 4.1 YPC average. Harris signed with the Chargers in March after rushing for at least 1,034 yards in his first four NFL seasons with the Steelers.
-The winless Giants announced Tuesday that they will give rookie QB Jaxson Dart his first career start Sunday vs. the Chargers ahead of Russell Wilson.
-Chicago CB Jaylon Johnson will have core muscle surgery and be out indefinitely, but the Bears expect him to return later in the season.
-Washington QB Jayden Daniels and WR Terry McLaurin are both ‘questionable’ Sunday at Atlanta.
-Minnesota WR Jordan Addison and San Francisco WR DeMarcus Robinson will both be available to play for their respective teams in Week 4 after serving three-game suspensions handed down by the NFL.
-Detroit DE Marcus Davenport will miss at least four games after being placed on IR due to a pectoral strain.
