As of Thanksgiving morning, most books had Seattle (6-5 straight up, 4-6-1 against the spread) listed as a two-point road favorite for Sunday’s showdown at the New York Jets. Circa and South Point had the Seahawks at -1.5.
Most spots had the total at 42 points, while Seattle was in the -125 to -135 range on the money line. The Jets were +105 to +114 (DraftKings) to win outright.
Seattle has won back-to-back games both SU and ATS, including a 20-17 win at San Francisco and a 16-6 home win over Arizona last week. More than anything, though, we’re fading the New York Jets (3-8 SU, 3-8 ATS), who are 1-7 both SU and ATS in their last eight games, including home losses to the Colts, Bills and Broncos.
The Seahawks are 3-1 SU and 2-1-1 ATS in four road assignments, including a 34-14 win at Atlanta. Their only road loss was at Detroit against the NFL’s premier team.
Seattle QB Geno Smith has played his best football on the road this year. He completed 33-of-44 throws for 327 yards and one TD without an interception in a 23-20 overtime win at New England.
Smith connected on 38-of-56 throws for 395 yards with one TD and one pick in a 42-29 loss at Detroit. In a 34-14 win at Atlanta, Smith had a pair of TD passes without a pick.
Even though the Jets are coming off of their open date, star running back Breece Hall didn’t practice on Wednesday and is listed as ‘questionable’ due to a knee injury. Hall has 632 rushing yards, four touchdowns and a 4.2 yards-per-carry average.
The Iowa St. product also has 46 receptions for 401 yards and two TDs.
The Jets are also dealing with injuries on the offensive line. Starting offensive tackle Tyron Smith is listed as ‘doubtful’ with a neck injury and the other starting OT, Morgan Moses, is listed as ‘questionable.’
PREDICTION: Let’s back Seattle -1 at -120 juice (buying the half-point from -1.5 via Circa) by risking 1.2 units to win one unit.
