Alabama junior linebacker Deontae Lawson will miss the rest of the season due to a leg injury sustained in Saturday’s 24-3 loss at Oklahoma.
Lawson has played in all 11 games for the Crimson Tide and is the team’s second-leading tackler. He has recorded 76 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, four passes broken up, two sacks, one interception, one fumble recovery and one forced fumble.
Lawson had seven tackles, 1.5 TFL’s and one interception in a 42-13 win at LSU. He produced 10 tackles, two TFL’s and one sack in a 41-34 home win over Georgia.
In 2023, Lawson played in 11 of 14 games, contributing 67 tackles, six TFL’s, four PBU, four QB hurries and three sacks.
Lawson played in 11 games in 2022 as a redshirt freshman, recording 51 tackles, four PBU and three TFL’s. He played sparingly in the maximum four games as a true freshman to conserve his redshirt, but he didn’t record any stats.
In 37 career games, Lawson produced 194 tackles, 16 TFL’s, 12 PBU, five sacks, four QB hurries, one interception, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.
Alabama (8-3 straight up, 6-5 against the spread) most likely saw its hopes of a College Football Playoff berth disappear during its loss in Norman. The Tide will close the regular season Saturday when it hosts Auburn at 3:30 p.m. Eastern.
As of Tuesday morning, most books had Alabama listed as an 11.5-point home favorite with a total of 52 or 52.5. The Tigers were +340 on the money line.
Alabama has won four games in a row over Auburn and eight of the last 10, including last year’s 27-24 triumph on Jalen Milroe’s 31-yard TD pass to Isaiah Bond on a fourth-and-goal play with 32 seconds remaining.
