The Portland Trail Blazers (21-29 straight up, 29-20-1 against the spread) remained on fire last night, collecting a 121-119 win over Phoenix in overtime as five-point home underdogs. They hooked up their money-line backers with a +165 return.

Chauncey Billups’ team has now won four games in a row and is on a 9-0 ATS roll. Portland has won outright in eight of its last nine contests.

In fact, the Trail Blazers have won five of those eight games by margins of at least 11 points and six of the wins have been by at least nine points.

Playing against his former team last night, Portland center DeAndre Ayton produced 25 points, 20 rebounds, one steal, one blocked shot and dished out a pair of assists without committing a turnover. Deni Avdija added 24 points, eight rebounds and five assists, draining 8-of-12 field-goal attempts, 3-of-6 launches from 3-point land and all five of his free throws.

Toumani Camara added 17 points on 5-of-7 makes from downtown, while Anfernee Simons had a double-double with 13 points and 10 boards. In only 22 minutes of playing time from off the bench, Scoot Henderson contributed 15 points and six assists.

Portland’s lone outright defeat during its 8-1 SU and 9-0 ATS surge? That came against Oklahoma City, which currently owns the NBA’s second-best SU record (39-14) and the #1 ATS ledger (31-14-3).

The Trail Blazers are underdogs again tonight, marking their 12th consecutive contest in that role. As of Tuesday morning, they were listed as five or 5.5-point home ‘dogs vs. Indiana.

Portland was in the +175 to +190 range on the money line, while the total was 233.5 or 234 points.

When these teams met in November at Indiana, the Pacers won a 121-114 decision, but Portland covered the number as a 9.5-point road underdog.

Like the Trail Blazers, Indiana (28-20 SU, 24-23-1 ATS) is also in a back-to-back situation tonight. The Pacers didn’t have to go to OT, but they were also in a tight game, winning 112-111 at Utah.

The Jazz took the cash as a 6.5-point home underdog. The 223 combined points dropped ‘under’ the 242.5-point total to end a 4-0 ‘over’ run in Indiana games.

Since the start of January, the Pacers have compiled a 12-2 SU record and a 10-4 ATS mark. Nevertheless, I’m backing the home underdog tonight.

PREDICTION: Portland +5.5, risking 1.1 units to win one unit.
