Golden State’s Game 6 win over Houston this past Friday had consequences throughout the NBA, but that result perhaps had no greater impact than it did on one New Jersey bettor.
According to FanDuel, one bettor won $525,867.50 on a $4,999 parlay that cashed after the Warriors’ win at Houston as +240 money-line underdogs. Here are the details of the six-team parlay:
Thanks to some luck on the diamond and all-time performances from Steph Curry and Klay Thompson, this bettor cleared over half a million dollars.
Here’s a more detailed breakdown of the results:
Mets (-1.5) vs Marlins | Won 11-2
Yankees (+148) at Rays | Won 4-3
Pirates (+138) at Cardinals | Won 2-1
Angels (-180) at Orioles | Won 8-3
Red Sox (-214) vs Mariners | Won 14-1
Warriors (+240) at Rockets | Won 118-113
There’s a fair amount of sweat in those results, particularly Pittsburgh’s 2-1 win over St. Louis on Friday. The Cardinals out-hit the Pirates 10-9 and were also the beneficiary of three errors, but couldn’t scratch across more than one run.
The Yankees’ narrow win over Tampa Bay also caused some nerves. The Rays out-hit New York 8-7 and would have won the game if not for a two-strike, two-out, two-RBI single by Gio Urshela in the sixth inning.
Even Golden State gave bettors reason to doubt. Curry went scoreless in the first half, but poured in 33 second-half points. The Rockets led by five heading into the final stanza before the Splash Brothers took over for good.
It’s tough to imagine a luckier day than all three of those results coming together (in favor of the road teams!) on top of the other three legs of this parlay — and it’s a day that bettor won’t soon forget.
