The Philadelphia 76ers have acquired Jaylen Brown in a blockbuster trade with their bitter Eastern Conference rivals, the Boston Celtics.

In return, Philadelphia has sent Paul George, two first-round picks (2028 and 2031) and two second-round selections in 2028 and 2030. The 2031 first-round pick is unprotected, but the 2028 first-rounder might convert from a first to a swap that’s more favorable for the Celtics.

The 2028 second-round selection is the most favorable of the Bucks, Warriors and Thunder, while the 2030 second-rounder is the most favorable of the Trail Blazers, Suns and Wizards.

The 29-year-old Brown is a five-time All-Star who won NBA Finals MVP honors in 2024. With Jayson Tatum out injured for most of this past regular season, Brown averaged 28.7 points, 6.9 rebounds and 5.1 assists per game in 71 regular-season contests. Those numbers were career highs along with his 79.5 shooting percentage from the free-throw line.

The 36-year-old George missed more games than he played in during his two-year stint with the 76ers, who appear to have clearly put themselves in a much better position to make a strong push in the 2027 postseason.

And, lest we forget, they got past the Celtics in the opening round of the playoffs this past year.

In 37 regular-season games for Philadelphia this past year, George averaged 17.3 points, 5.3 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.7 steals per game. In 11 postseason outings, he averaged 16.4 points, 3.9 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.3 SPG.
