Chicago Bears safety Coby Bryant will be out for the next 8-10 weeks due to a knee injury sustained at Monday’s practice.
Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Bryant won’t need surgery despite hyperextending his left knee, resulting in a small fracture and a bone bruise.
Bryant was Seattle’s fourth-round pick with the #109 overall selection in the 2022 NFL Draft. He spent four seasons with the Seahawks, recording 10 tackles and two passes broken up in their three-game postseason run last year.
Bryant started 15 regular-season games during Seattle’s run to its Super Bowl LX victory. The University of Cincinnati product produced 66 tackles, seven PBU, four tackles for loss, four interceptions with 43 return yards, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.
In four years with the Seahawks, Bryant played in 58 games with 34 starts. He has 227 career tackles, 17 PBU, nine TFL’s, seven forced fumbles, seven interceptions for 130 return yards and one touchdown, seven QB Hits, two sacks and one fumble recovery.
Bryant signed a three-year deal worth $40 million with the Bears, who took Dillon Theineman with their first-round pick (#25 overall) to start at the other safety spot opposite of Bryant.
Chicago went 12-7 both straight up and against the spread last season. The Bears beat Green Bay 31-27 as 2.5-point home underdogs in the wild-card round before dropping a 20-17 decision to the Los Angeles Rams in overtime. Although their season ended in disappointment against the Rams, they did take the cash as 3.5-point home underdogs.
Most books have Chicago installed as a 2.5-point road favorite (at a -115 price) for its Week 1 opener at Carolina. The total is 45.5-points, while the Panthers are +125 money-line underdogs.
DraftKings has Chicago’s season win total at 9.5 (‘under’ -120, ‘over’ +100). The Bears have +305 odds to win the NFC North, and they’ve 24/1 odds to win Super Bowl LXI.
