Philadelphia general manager Howie Roseman was at it again last night when he made a trade to bolster the Eagles’ depth in their running back room.
They’ve shipped their 2026 fifth and sixth-round picks to Jacksonville for RB Tank Bigsby. It was the fifth trade Roseman has made since mid-August.
The other moves netted WR John Metchie, QB Sam Howell and OL Fred Johnson. Despite sending a fifth-round pick to the Jaguars, Philadelphia still has three fifth-round selections remaining for the 2026 NFL Draft.
The 24-year-old Bigsby played in 16 regular-season games for the Jags in 2024. He produced 766 rushing yards, seven touchdowns and a 4.6 yards-per-carry average. Bigsby also had seven catches for 54 yards.
Jacksonville made Bigsby its third-round pick with the #88 overall selection in the 2023 NFL Draft. He was limited to 132 rushing yards, two TDs and a 2.6 YPC average as a rookie.
Jacksonville felt as if had the luxury to make the move since RB Travis Etienne looked impressive in this past Sunday’s 26-10 win over Carolina as a 4.5-point home favorite. Etienne ran for 143 yards on 16 attempts and had three catches for 13 yards.
In the 2025 NFL Draft, the Jags took Va. Tech RB Bhayshul Tuten in the fourth round and also selected Syracuse RB LeQuint Allen in the seventh round. Tuten had 11 rushing yards on three carries vs. the Panthers, and Allen gained seven rushing yards on his lone attempt. Allen also had a four-yard reception.
Bigsby had only 12 rushing yards on five carries vs. Carolina.
Once Bigsby gets comfortable with the playbook, he’ll likely jump ahead of Will Shipley and A.J. Dillon into the RB2 role behind Saquon Barkley. Shipley had 26 rushing yards on three attempts in Philadelphia’s 24-20 non-covering home win over Dallas in this past Thursday’s curtain jerker, while Dillon ran for 10 yards on three carries.
As of Tuesday morning, FanDuel had the Bengals installed as 3.5-point home favorites (at a -106 price) vs. Jacksonville. The Jags were +150 on the money line, while the total was 49.5 points (‘over’ 114, ‘under’ -106).
The Eagles were 1.5-point road underdogs (-120 price) at Kansas City, with the total set at 46.5 points (‘over’ -112, ‘under -108).
FanDuel had Houston as the +170 favorite to win the AFC South, but Jacksonville had +190 odds. The Colts were at +260, while the Titans were at +900.
As for the NFC East, the Eagles were -165 ‘chalk.’ The next-shortest odds belonged to the Commanders (+200), Cowboys (+1000 or 10/1) and Giants (27/1).
