The 2019 College Football Playoff is starting to take shape.
LSU’s massive win at Alabama as a 6.5-point road underdog means the Tigers have nearly clinched their spot in the CFP. Clemson wiped out another mediocre opponent, and Ohio State is one week closer to earning a bid.
On Monday, the Westgate SuperBook posted updated odds to win the CFP. LSU and Ohio State are currently listed as 2/1 co-favorites to win the title.
Clemson continues to take care of business in the ACC, which puts the Tigers at 7/2 (or +350). Alabama’s chances took a hit with Saturday’s loss, bumping the Crimson Tide down to 6/1 at the SuperBook.
Georgia controls its own destiny with a perfect finish to the regular season and a win against LSU in the SEC Championship game, but the Bulldogs are still 14/1 to win the title.
Everyone else needs some form of help to get back into the mix. Oklahoma, Utah and Penn State are all 40/1 longshots to win the championship. Penn State’s chances plummeted with a loss to Minnesota last week. Oklahoma and Utah need to close the regular season without any more slip-ups, have Georgia drop a game and win their respective conference championship games. It wouldn’t hurt any of those schools if Auburn knocked off Alabama, too.
Minnesota is listed at 80/1 and Baylor is 100/1. Both teams are undefeated, but their toughest tests are coming up. The Golden Gophers still have to play at Iowa and vs. Wisconsin in the regular season, along with a probable matchup against Ohio State in the Big Ten title game.
Baylor would have to close with wins against Oklahoma, Texas and Kansas to stay alive.
According to BetOnline, LSU has the best chance to make the College Football Playoff at -800. Ohio State is -500 to make an appearance and Clemson is -600. Georgia is +180 and Alabama is +240.
