UPDATE: Georgia head football coach Kirby Smart announced Thursday that wide receiver Rara Thomas has been dismissed from the program.
Another Georgia football player is in trouble with the law. Senior wide receiver Rodarius ‘Rara’ Thomas was arrested this morning at 3:20 a.m. and is being held without bond in the Athens-Clarke County Jail.
Thomas is facing two misdemeanor battery charges and one count of second-degree cruelty to children, which is a felony. All three charges carry a “family violence” designation.
Less than a month after transferring to Georgia from Mississippi St. ahead of the 2023 season, Thomas was arrested on a felony count of false imprisonment and a misdemeanor count of family violence.
He entered a diversion program, and those charges were subsequently dropped.
Thomas started eight times in 11 appearances for the Bulldogs last season. He had 23 receptions for 383 yards and one TD.
In three seasons playing in the SEC, Thomas has 85 career catches for 1,261 yards and 13 TDs.
