Ex-Cincinnati quarterback Brendan Sorsby, who is the #1 player in the transfer portal according to both ESPN and the 247Sports Composite, committed to Texas Tech late Sunday night.
Sorsby visited Lubbock on Friday and LSU on Saturday before making his decision.
The five-star transfer spent his first two seasons in college at Indiana before transferring to Cincinnati before the 2024 campaign. He used his redshirt year as a true freshman at IU when he appeared in only one game.
Sorsby played in 10 games for the Hoosiers in 2023, completing 135-of-237 passes (57.0%) for 1,587 yards with a 15/5 touchdown-to-interception ratio. He added 276 rushing yards and four TDs while averaging 2.4 yards per carry.
For Cincinnati in 2024, Sorsby connected on 249-of-389 throws (64.0%) for 2,813 yards with an 18/7 TD-INT ratio. He had 447 rushing yards and nine TDs, averaging 4.3 YPC.
Sorsby started all 12 regular-season games for the Bearcats this season before opting out of their bowl game. He completed 207-of-336 passes (61.6%) for 2,800 yards with a stellar 27/5 TD-INT ratio. The dual-threat signal caller contributed 580 rushing yards and nine TDs while averaging 5.8 YPC.
In 35 career games, Sorsby has completed 61.4 percent of his passes for 7,208 yards with a 60/18 TD-INT ratio. He has 1,295 career rushing yards and 22 TDs with a 4.0 YPC average.
According to multiple reports, Sorsby was expected to receive an NIL package for around $5 million for his final season of eligibility.
As of 6:30 p.m. Eastern on Monday, the high-spending Red Raiders had already landed eight commits from the portal. Per the 247Sports Composite, those moves had their 2026 class elevated to #12 overall nationally and #5 in terms of transfer-specific commits.
