News broke earlier today that LSU senior linebacker Michael Divinity is no longer a part of the football program.
He’s only played in five games this year because he was suspended for the season opener vs. Ga. Southern. Then Divinity didn’t play in a Week 3 win over Northwestern State for what was dubbed a “coach’s decision.”
Once again for an Oct. 5 home game vs. Utah State, Divinity wasn’t on the field either due to an injury sustained two weeks before at Vanderbilt or perhaps another discipline issue.
Whatever the case, it’s a terrible start to game week for undefeated LSU, which will try to an end an eight-game losing streak to Alabama on Saturday night at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa.
As of Monday afternoon, most betting shops had Alabama installed as a 6.5-point home ‘chalk’ with a total of 65. The Tigers were +210 on the money line at the Westgate SuperBook in Las Vegas.
Divinity had produced 23 tackles, three sacks, three QB hurries, one tackle for loss and one forced fumble in 2019. As a junior in 2018, he had recorded 54 tackles, five sacks, 5.5 TFL’s, eight QB hurries, two passes broken up and one interception.
The Tigers and Tide will collide Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET. on CBS.
