Florida (3-5 straight up, 3-5 against the spread) true freshman wide receiver sustained a season-ending foot injury in his team’s 24-20 loss to Georgia on Saturday. Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports first reported the news on Sunday.
Wilson has been snake bitten all year. He enrolled early in January after flipping his commitment from Oregon.
The four-star prospect out of Tampa Bay Tech High School was ranked as the nation’s #35 prospect in the 2025 class, according to the 247Sports Composite. He didn’t waste any time living up to that billing.
Wilson blew up all the program’s records for WRs in the annual Orange and Blue Game that concludes spring practice. He made 10 catches for 195 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
Wilson was turning heads and dominating in the first week of training camp in early August, but a foot injury sidelined him for nearly two months.
Wilson finally made his collegiate debut coming out of UF’s first open date vs. Texas on Oct. 4. He made an instant impact in the Gators’ 29-21 home win over the Longhorns, hauling in six receptions for 111 yards and two TDs, including this spectacular 55-yard TD catch that had him dragging defenders into the end zone with him.
Wilson was limited to three catches for 20 yards and one TD in a 34-17 loss at Texas A&M the following week. In a 23-21 home win over Mississippi St. on Oct. 18, he had a pair of receptions for 24 yards.
Wilson was targeted only once vs. UGA, making a seven-yard catch. He came out of the locker room for the second half in street clothes and a walking boot.
UF was without its leading WR in true freshman Vernell Brown III due to a shoulder injury vs. UGA. There’s hope that Brown might be able to return for Saturday’s game at Kentucky.
Brown has 32 catches for 451 yards in seven games this season. Wilson’s season ends with 12 receptions for 174 yards and three TDs in four games.
As of early Monday afternoon, most books had the Gators installed as 3.5-point road favorites Saturday at UK. The total was 45.5 points, while the Wildcats had +140 money-line odds.
Florida is 0-3 both SU and ATS in three road assignments this season.
Kentucky (3-5 SU, 3-5 ATS) is off a 10-3 upset win Saturday night at Auburn. The Wildcats are 2-3 both SU and ATS in five home contests this year.
They had won three games in a row both SU and ATS in this rivalry until UF blasted the ‘Cats by a 48-20 count as a 2.5-point home underdog last season. UK is still 6-1-1 ATS with four outright victories in the last eight head-to-head meetings with the Gators, who haven’t won in Lexington since 2019.
