In a continuing series I’m doing for Southeastern 16, I recently created videos previewing Florida, Auburn, Tennessee and Arkansas. I took quick looks back at their 2025 seasons, shared each school’s betting numbers at FanDuel, examined their respective recruiting classes, discussed key acquisitions from the transfer portal and hit on their top returning players before dissecting their schedules in relation to their season win totals.
In the case of the Gators, I spent some time talking about new head coach Jon Sumrall, who takes over after four agonizingly brutal seasons under Billy Napier. I also hit on the quarterback competition between Ga. Tech transfer Aaron Philo and redshirt freshman Tramell Jones.
The strength of Sumrall’s first team at UF is going to be a wide receiver room that’s loaded with studs like Vernell Brown III, Dallas Wilson, Auburn transfer Eric Singleton, Wake Forest transfer Micah Mays and Ga. Tech transfer Bailey Stockton.

Like Florida, Tennessee has a QB battle that will likely continue well into August with redshirt freshman George MacIntyre seemingly enjoying an edge over five-star true freshman Faizon Brandon coming out of spring practice.
I talked about the hire of new defensive coordinator Jim Knowles, who comes to Knoxville from Penn St. with two other PSU assistants and four Nittany Lion transfers joining him on Rocky Top.
One of those guys, ex-PSU defensive end Chaz Coleman, was a five-star import who reportedly inked a $3.5 million deal for the 2026 campaign. However, according to Knoxville sports radio legend Tony Basilio’s reporting, Coleman has been dealing with “homesickness.”
In fact, Coleman missed the spring game and several practices due to his mental situation. Basilio reported that one of Coleman’s siblings is moving down to Knoxville to live with him and hopefully help get him more focused.

Alex Golesh is replacing Hugh Freeze on The Plains after a successful run at South Florida. He brought 13 USF transfers with him to Auburn, including star QB Byrum Brown.
Not only did Golesh bring Brown with him, but he also brought five of his WRs, two of his offensive linemen, one of his running backs and a tight end. Therefore, Brown should be completely comfortable with his new surroundings since he’ll be running the same offense with lots of familiar personnel.

As for Arkansas, it’s looking to bounce back from an incredibly disappointing season in which it lost five games by 11 combined points. The Razorbacks replaced Sam Pittman with Ryan Silverfield, who led Memphis to a 32-31 comeback win over Arkansas that was the first of 10 consecutive losses for the Hogs.
KJ Jackson will be the new QB following Taylen Green’s departure. RB Braylen Russell will have big shoes to fill after Mike Washington enjoyed a breakout season that’s likely going to get his name called on Day 2 of next week’s NFL Draft.
Some of the top transfers for Silverfield include CB Jaheim Johnson (Tulane), LB Khmori House (UNC), OT Bryant Williams (Louisiana), QB AJ Hill (Memphis) and RB Sutton Smith (Memphis), who had 147 rushing yards and one TD in the Tigers’ upset win over Arkansas in Week 3 last year.
