Arizona State (10-2 straight up, 10-2 against the spread) sophomore wide receiver Jordyn Tyson has a collarbone injury that’ll keep him out of Saturday’s Big 12 Championship Game vs. Iowa State in Arlington, TX. ASU head coach Kenny Dillingham said that Tyson is out indefinitely.
Tyson is quarterback Sam Leavitt’s favorite target. He has 75 receptions for 1,101 yards and 10 touchdowns.
Tyson has produced 176, 125 and 143 receiving yards in the Sun Devils’ last three games. He had 12 catches for 176 yards and two TDs in a 24-14 win at Kansas St. on Nov. 16.
Tyson snagged nine receptions for 125 yards in a 28-23 home win over BYU on Nov. 23. Then this past weekend in a 49-7 win at Arizona, he caught eight balls for 143 yards and one TD.
Dillingham’s team will bring a five-game winning streak both SU and ATS into this matchup against the Cyclones, who are 10-2 SU and 7-5 ATS.
Iowa St. has won three games in a row, going 2-1 ATS, including Saturday’s 29-21 win over Kansas St. as a two-point home favorite in Ames.
This will be the first all-time meeting between these schools. As of late Monday afternoon, most books had the Sun Devils installed as two or 2.5-point ‘chalk’ with a total of 51. The Cyclones were +120 or +125 on the money line.
Leavitt was already going up against an Iowa St. defense that’s ranked #3 nationally in pass defense. However, the Cyclones are #96 in the country at stopping the run.
Therefore, ASU running back Cam Skattebo figures to get touches galore. Skattebo has 1,398 rushing yards, 17 TDs and a 5.7 yards-per-carry average in 11 games this season.
