Andrej Stojakovic is transferring from California to Illinois. The Field of 68’s Jeff Goodman broke the story on Monday.
This is a huge score for Brad Underwood, who has taken the Fighting Illini to five consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances.
The 20-year-old Stojakovic is a rising junior who will be playing for his third school in as many years. He started 10 of 32 games for Stanford as a freshman in 2023-24, averaging 7.8 points and 3.4 rebounds per game.
Stojakovic made a big jump as a sophomore playing for Mark Madsen across town in Berkeley. He started 28 of 29 games for the Golden Bears.
Stojakovic, the son of Sacramento Kings legend Peja Stojakovic, averaged 17.9 points, 4.7 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.2 blocked shots per game for Cal.
He was a five-star prospect and McDonald’s All-American coming out of high school. Stojakovic joins Zvonimir Ivisic (Arkansas) as the second four-star transfer to join Illinois.
“I think the main reasons were pretty clear to my inner circle as a basketball fit,” Stojakovic told ESPN. “Coach Underwood has been very aggressive recruiting me from the start and constantly reiterating how much I’m wanted and needed as a basketball player there. They really believe I’m the missing piece to what they think is a national championship team.”
Underwood also has a pair of four-star incoming freshmen (shooting guards Brandon Lee and Keaton Wagler) and two international players (David Mirkovic and Mihailo Petrovic) on their way to Urbana-Champaign.
