Florida power forward Alex Condon announced his withdrawal from the 2025 NBA Draft earlier today.
Condon is returning to Florida in hopes of helping Todd Golden’s program win back-to-back national championships. The 6-foot-11 Aussie earned third-team All-SEC honors as a sophomore.
Condon started 35 of 37 games for the Gators, averaging 10.6 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 1.3 blocked shots and 0.9 steals per game. He hit 49.3 percent of his field-goal attempts, 32.8 percent of his 3-pointers and 60.4 percent of his free throws.
“It’s a really good situation waiting for me there,” Condon told ESPN’s Jonathan Givony. “A great coach with Todd Golden. Teammates I won a national championship with. I have great chemistry with those boys. We have a good transfer class coming in. I expect guys to make a leap. My big man coach, Carlin Hartman, is returning, so I will keep developing my game with him.”
The 20-year-old Condon was one of the top players for a UF team that went 36-4 straight up and 29-11 against the spread. He garnered SEC Player of the Week honors three different times.
Condon played 28 minutes in the Gators’ 65-63 comeback win over Houston in the NCAA Tournament finals. He contributed 12 points, seven rebounds and four steals, making 5-of-9 FGAs, but he’ll be most remembered for diving on a loose ball in the final seconds to seal the win over the Cougars.
Condon was named to the SEC’s All-Freshman Team after the 2023-24 campaign. In 36 games, he averaged 7.7 points, 6.4 rebounds, 1.3 blocks and 1.2 APG.
ESPN had Condon ranked as the No. 38 prospect in the 2025 NBA Draft. Most respected publications had him being selected in the 35-43 range of the second round.
“It’s a hard thing to do, winning back-to-back,” Condon said. “We’re not taking it lightly. We need to get together as a team. Get back to Gainesville, share in some hardship through hard work in the summer, and get used to playing with each other. Part of the reason we were so good last season was we got used to playing with each other for two years. We need to continue that. When guys have your back, that’s what makes a great team.”
UF will have the nation’s premier frontcourt going into the season. That group consists of Condon, Thomas Haugh, Rueben Chinyelu and Micah Handlogten.
The Gators are also hoping for contributions from redshirt freshman Olivier Rioux, a 7-foot-9 center who is poised to become the tallest player in college basketball history.
Florida lost its entire backcourt, but Golden has done outstanding work on the recruiting trail to replenish that part of the roster. Per the 247Sports Composite, UF has the country’s #11 overall class and is ranked #8 in terms of transfer-specific imports.
Boogie Fland, a five-star transfer from Arkansas, committed to the Gators last week. He joins former Princeton star Xaivian Lee, a four-star transfer who was ranked #32 overall, in the backcourt.
UF also has four-star incoming freshman combo guard Alex Lloyd and rising sophomore Urban Klavsar, who played well when Walter Clayton and Alijah Martin were briefly sidelined with injuries in February.
The rest of the 2025 class is rounded out by four-star forward CJ Ingram and four-star shooting guard AJ Brown, a transfer from Ohio.
FanDuel has the Gators with 17/1 odds to win the 2026 NCAA Tournament. They share the fifth-shortest odds on the board with Louisville, Michigan, St. John’s and Kansas.
Purdue, Houston and Duke are the 11/1 co-favorites.
