In a post to his Instagram account early Saturday, former Kentucky guard Collin Chandler announced that he’s transferring to BYU.
“Cougar nation, let’s rock,” Chandler said in the post.
Chandler played for the Wildcats for two seasons and will have two years of eligibility remaining. He started 31 times in 36 appearances this past year, averaging 9.7 points, 2.8 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.2 steals per game.
Chandler hit 43.5 percent of his field-goal attempts, 41.0 percent of his launches from 3-point land and 83.3 percent of his free throws.
Chandler buried 6-of-8 treys and scored a career-high 23 points in a 91-77 home win over Vanderbilt on Feb. 28. However, he struggled during the 2025 NCAA Tournament.
In Kentucky’s 89-84 overtime win over Santa Clara, Chandler had five points, five assists, two rebounds, two steals and one blocked shot. He made only 2-of-10 FGAs and 1-of-9 from downtown. He was limited to six points, one rebound, one steal and one blocked shot in an 82-63 loss vs. Iowa St. in the Round of 32.
As a freshman at UK during the 2024-25 campaign, Chandler averaging 10.4 minutes per game in 30 appearances. He averaged 2.7 points and 1.0 RPG.
Chandler had a season-high 11 points to go with four rebounds and four assists in a 95-64 home win over LSU. In UK’s run to the Sweet 16 that included wins over Troy and Illinois, plus a loss to Tennessee, Chandler averaged 6.0 points, 1.7 steals and 1.0 RPG. He drained 5-of-8 treys (62.5%).
247Sports had Chandler ranked as the #40 overall player in the portal and the #5 shooting guard. He was a four-star prospect coming out of Farmington High School in Utah that was ranked as the nation’s #33 overall player.
Chandler originally committed to Mark Pope when he was at BYU, but he took a two-year Mormon mission out of high school. After his mission, he elected to join Pope at Kentucky, but he’s now returning home to play for the Cougars.
