If MMA fans at Bridgestone Arena and those watching on ESPN were looking to get the entire Derrick Lewis Experience on Saturday night, ‘The Black Beast’ delivered and then some in a 35-second knockout win over 13th-ranked heavyweight Tallison Teixeira in the UFC Nashville main event.

KO win? Check.

Strip show performance in the Octagon while celebrating? Done.

Moon the crowd? Wasn’t the first time.

Talk to President Donald Trump on Dana White’s phone while Bruce Buffer is announcing him as the winner? “Fo sho.”

Epic post-fight interview with Daniel Cormier? Believe that!

Lewis hooked up his betting backers as a +255 underdog, as the odds soared higher in the hours before the fight after being in the +210 to +225 range on Friday. The prop for Lewis to win by KO had a +310 return at FanDuel, and a lot of spots had the specific prop for Lewis to win by KO in Round 1 at lucrative +500 odds.

Did Lewis get the benefit of an early stoppage? Maybe.

Was the end result going to be any different? I doubt it.

Teixeira, who entered the contest with an 8-0 record and eight first-round finishes, might have become a little comfortable when Lewis acted like he might’ve been poked in the eye in the first 15 seconds of the fight.

Lewis stepped back and wiped his eye. As Teixeira came into range, Lewis threw a couple of wild right hands that missed.

But his next punch was a thunderous left hook that connected perfectly and dropped Teixeira, who then took 17 unanswered punches. He took the last two or three strikes from Lewis as he illegally used both hands to grab the fence and pull himself back up to his feet.

The referee intervened and stopped the fight at that point, and that’s when the real show got started.

Per usual, Lewis did his Tarzan routine. Then he dropped his trunks, went over to Teixeira’s corner and imitated a dog urinating to mark his territory. He later explained that move by saying, “I don’t speak Portuguese, but I know they’ve been talking shit to me all week. Fuck ’em.”

The moon came next.

Then Dana gave Lewis his cell phone to talk to Trump, and then it was time to get that man on the microphone!

Daniel Cormier said, “Derrick, you were just on the phone with the President.”

Lewis responded, “Yeah, fo sho. It’s crazy. USA in this hoe! The fuck what they talking about.”

To conclude the Octagon interview, Cormier asked who he wanted next, a question every winning fighter gets in hopes of making an interesting callout for his next scrap. Lewis decided to hilariously take a different path with his answer.

“I’ve been gone for two weeks, so I want my wife next. It’s gone be a lot of ground and pounding. Ground and pound – she know what it is. Her fine ass.”

In all seriousness, though, who do we want to see across from heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall, who is expected to headline the promotion’s annual November show at Madison Square Garden in New York City? The presumed opponent is top-ranked contender Ciryl Gane, who owns a 13-2 career record.

Gane is off a split-decision win over Volkov, but 19 of 20 media members scored the contest in favor of Volkov (per MMADecisions).

Wouldn’t we rather see fifth-ranked Jailton Almeida or Lewis go up against Aspinall? I don’t see anybody beating Aspinall anytime soon. Whoever lines up against the champ, he’ll be an enormous underdog and will merely have ‘a puncher’s chance.’

With Lewis, at least we know the punch will have enough heat on it to potentially change everything in the heavyweight division. And if Lewis were to pull a shocker and win the title, we damn sure know we’ll get the most entertaining post-fight theatrics that we’ve ever seen.
