Just one day after Tampa Bay blasted Kansas City to win Super Bowl LV, bettors were already looking ahead to the new odds to win Super Bowl LVI.
In fact, one William Hill gambler in New Jersey put down $5,000 on the New York Jets to win it all next year.
As VSIN’s Ben Fawkes reported Monday afternoon, he or she has the Jets at 150/1 odds to potentially win $750,000.
The Jets own the No. 2 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. Multiple reports in the last 48 hours after indicated that several teams have called the franchise to inquire about Sam Darnold, who was the club’s No. 1 draft pick in the 2018 NFL Draft.
With this year’s No. 2 pick, New York could potentially go with one of three different quarterbacks: BYU’s Zach Wilson, North Dakota’s Trey Lance or Ohio State’s Justin Fields. Clemson’s Trevor Lawrence is expected to go No. 1 overall to the Jacksonville Jaguars.
In three seasons with the Jets, Darnold has completed 59.8 percent of his passes in 38 games for 8,097 yards. He has a 45/39 career touchdown-to-interception ratio. Darnold has 417 career rushing yards and five TDs.
The USC product has been a predictable disappointment. In fairness to him, though, he hasn’t exactly been surrounded by a ton of offensive talent.
The Jets are 13-35 since 2018, limping to a 2-14 record in 2020.
