A ticket on Joe Burrow to win the Heisman Trophy is a valued commodity in the 2019 sports betting world.
Burrow opened the season at 200/1 odds to win the award and has been dropping ever since. LSU’s standout quarterback is now the ‘chalk’ at every sportsbook, with odds ranging from -125 to +125.
On Thursday, a $300 wager on Burrow at 75/1 was listed on PropSwap — an online secondary market for sports bets that functions much like eBay does. The bet, which was originally placed at SouthPoint in Las Vegas, would win $22,500.
The current price of the ticket on PropSwap is $8,600.
LSU is currently a 6.5-point underdog for Saturday’s crucial showdown against Alabama at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa. If the Tigers are able to pull off the upset, the price of the ticket on PropSwap will go up in value.
If LSU loses and Burrow plays poorly, he won’t necessarily be eliminated from the Heisman race, but his chances will drop significantly.
Burrow has thrown for 2,805 yards and 30 touchdowns this season. He has thrown only four interceptions and has a passer rating of 204.5.
In Saturday’s showdown, Burrow is -150 to have more passing yards than Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, who will only be 20 days out from undergoing tightrope surgery on the ankle he injured vs. Tennessee. The Tide’s signal caller is available at an even-money (+100) price to throw more passing touchdowns than Burrow.
Burrow is currently a -120 ‘chalk’ to win the Heisman at BetOnline. Oklahoma quarterback Jalen Hurts follows with +250 odds. Tagovailoa is still in the hunt at +375, which adds another layer to the game on Saturday afternoon.
Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields is +750 and Buckeyes’ defensive end Chase Young is +800. Oklahoma State running back Chubba Hubbard has 40/1 odds.
The $300 PropSwap wager on Burrow was placed in August. This year’s Heisman Trophy ceremony will take place on Saturday, Dec. 14 at 8:00 p.m. ET on ESPN.
