Pittsburgh (6-4 straight up, 5-5 against the spread) quarterback Aaron Rodgers sustained a “slight break” in his left wrist during Sunday’s 34-12 win over Cincinnati as a 5.5-point home favorite.
The 41-year-old Rodgers will undergo further medical testing today but for now, the Steelers aren’t ruling him out to play in Sunday’s game at Chicago. In fact, Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reported this morning that they think he has a 50-50 chance to play against the Bears.
Per Rapoport, whether Rodgers can play or not will depend on if he can grip the ball and if he can further injure his non-throwing wrist.
Before leaving the win over the Bengals, Rodgers had completed 9-of-15 passes for 116 yards and one touchdown without an interception. For the season, Rodgers has connected on 66.4 percent of his throws for 1,969 yards with a 19/7 touchdown-to-interception ratio.
Veteran backup Mason Rudolph played well in Rodgers’ absence. The Oklahoma St. product completed 12-of-16 passes for 127 yards and one TD without an interception.
The 30-year-old Rudolph, who has spent five of his six NFL seasons in Pittsburgh, has 18 career starts to his credit. He’s helped the Steelers to an 8-4-1 record in his 13 starts for the organization, including a 3-0 mark during the 2023 campaign.
Rudolph went 1-4 in his five starts with the Titans last year. He has a 29/20 career TD-INT ratio.
As early Monday afternoon, most books had Chicago installed as a three-point home favorite with a total of 45. Pittsburgh was +135 on the money line.
The Steelers have a one-game lead over Baltimore for the lead in the AFC North. Despite the one-game edge, FanDuel has the Ravens as -280 ‘chalk’ to win the loop, while the Steelers have +260 odds.
