Khyree Jackson was tragically killed last night in an auto accident near Temple Hills, MY. He was only 24 years old.
Jackson was selected by the Minnesota Vikings with the #108 overall pick in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft.
The Vikings released the following statement late this morning: “We are devastated by the news of Khyree Jackson’s death following an overnight car accident. Our thoughts are with Khyree’s family, friends, teammates and coaches, as well as all the victims of this tragic accident.”
Jackson played at Alabama in 2021 and 2022 before transferring to Oregon. In his lone season with the Ducks, he produced 34 tackles, seven passes broken up, five tackles for loss, three interceptions and two sacks. Jackson was a first-team All-Pac 12 selection.
Minnesota head coach Kevin O’Connell also released a statement via the team’s social-media accounts.
O’Connell said, “I am absolutely crushed by this news. Khyree brought a contagious energy to our facility and our team. His confidence and engaging personality immediately drew his teammates to him. In our short time together, it was evident Khyree was going to develop into a tremendous professional football player, but what was more impressive was his desire to become the best person he could be for his family and those around him. I am at a loss for words. My heart goes out to Khyree’s family, friends, teammates and coaches.”
According to Clay Fink of Noles247, former Florida St. cornerback AJ Lytton also passed away in the wreck. A third individual, 23-year-old Isaiah Hazel, was also killed in the accident.
