UPDATE: The Ravens “backed out” of this trade due to medical concerns that arose during Maxx Crosby’s physical. The Raiders announced this news Tuesday night.
Pending a physical that Maxx Crosby will have to pass Wednesday when the start of the league’s new year opens, he’ll be a Baltimore Raven moving forward.
The Las Vegas Raiders agreed to send Crosby, the five-time Pro Bowl defensive end, to Baltimore late Friday. In return, the Raiders will get the Ravens’ 2026 and 2027 first-round picks.
Las Vegas will receive the No. 14 overall pick in next month’s draft.
The 28-year-old Crosby played in 15 games this past season, although he wasn’t happy that the Raiders held him out of their last two contests. Nevertheless, the Eastern Michigan product produced 73 tackles, 28 tackles for loss, 20 QB Hits, 10 sacks, six passes broken up, two forced fumbles and one interception.
When the Raiders were still in Oakland, they selected Crosby with their fourth-round pick (No. 106 overall) in the 2019 NFL Draft. He didn’t waste any time becoming a force for the franchise.
Crosby finished second in voting for the AP’s Defensive Rookie of the Year after recording 47 tackles, 16 TFL’s, 14 QB Hits, 10 sacks, four forced fumbles and four PBU.
In 2022, Crosby played in all 17 regular-season games, leading the NFL in TFL’s with 22 and finishing sixth in voting for NFL Defensive Player of the Year honors. He also had 89 tackles, a career-high 36 QB Hits, 12.5 sacks, four PBU, three forced fumbles and one fumble recovery.
Crosby finished fourth in voting for NFL Defensive Player of the Year honors in 2023 when he led the league in TFL’s (23) for a second straight season. He added a career-best 90 tackles, 31 QB Hits, a career-high 14.5 sacks, two PBU, a pair of forced fumbles and one fumble recovery.
In 110 career games in seven seasons, Crosby has produced 439 tackles, 164 QB Hits, 133 TFL’s, 69.5 sacks, 29 PBU, 11 forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries and one interception. He didn’t miss his first career game until 2024 when he was limited to 12 contests, and he’s only missed seven total games.
With the addition of Crosby, the Ravens bring in their first dominant pass rusher since Terrell Suggs, who was with the franchise from 2003 to 2018.
During his tenure with the Raiders, Crosby endured five losing seasons, five different head coaches, four general managers and nine starting quarterbacks.
