The NFL is set to release the entire 2025 regular-season schedule on Wednesday during a special show on ESPN2 at 8:00 p.m. Eastern, but the league announced three specific games today.
In the Thursday night opener on Sept. 4 that will be televised on NBC, Philadelphia will take on Dallas in an NFC East battle. As of early Monday night, FanDuel had the Eagles installed as 6.5-point home favorites (at a -120 price) with a total of 46.5 (‘over’ -115, ‘under’ -105).
Nick Sirianni’s team has -310 money-line odds, while the Cowboys are +250 on the comeback.
The betting shop has also posted nine proposition wagers. For instance, Philadelphia running back Saquon Barkley has -115 odds to rush for 100 yards or more. He’s at +270 to rush for two touchdowns or more and +500 to produce at least 150 rushing yards.
Philadelphia WR A.J. Brown has +210 odds to have 100+ receiving yards and is +1000 (or 10/1) to have 150+. As for Dallas WR CeeDee Lamb, the former Oklahoma Sooner is +150 to have 100+ receiving yards and +800 for 150+.
Philadelphia QB Jalen Hurts is +290 to have 250+ passing yards.
When these teams met at Dallas last season, Philadelphia trounced the Cowboys 34-6 as a seven-point road favorite. The 40 combined points dropped ‘under’ the 45-point total.
Hurts accounted for four TDs, 202 passing yards and 56 rushing yards on only seven attempts. Barkley ran for 66 yards, while Brown had five receptions for 109 yards.
Prescott was sidelined with an injury and backup Cooper Rush had only 45 passing yards. The Eagles limited Dallas to 11 first downs and just 146 yards of total offense.
Philadelphia crushed Dallas again by a 41-7 count as a 7.5-point home favorite on Dec. 29, as the 48 combined points jumped ‘over’ the 37.5-point total when third-string QB Tanner McKee found Brown for a 20-yard TD pass with 2:44 left in the third quarter. Hurts didn’t play while recovering from a concussion.
Barkley was the catalyst with 167 rushing yards on 31 carries, and Chauncey Gardner-Johnson scored on a 69-yard pick-six early in the first quarter.
The Eagles went on to win Super Bowl LIX by beating Kansas City 40-22 as one-point underdogs. They finished the season with an 18-3 straight-up record and a 14-7 against-the-spread mark.
Meanwhile, Dallas went 7-10 SU and 7-9-1 ATS, losing Prescott to a season-ending injury on Nov. 3.
Sirianni’s team returns 10 of 11 starters on offense, but it lost five starters on the defensive side of the ball. Darius Slay, Josh Sweat, Milton Williams and Oren Burks left via free agency, while the team traded Gardner-Johnson to the Houston Texans.
GM Howie Roseman spent five of his draft picks on defensive players, including first-round selection Jihaad Campbell and second-round pick Drew Mukuba. Campell is a linebacker out of Alabama and Mukuba is a safety from Texas.
Philadelphia also added DT Ty Robinson (Nebraska, Round 4), CB Mac McWilliams (UCF, R5), LB Smael Mondon (Georgia, R5) and EDGE Antwaun Powell-Ryland (Virginia Tech, R7).
Dallas added a big-time weapon for Prescott in WR George Pickens, who was acquired in a trade with the Steelers. The Cowboys went offensive line with their first-round pick Tyler Booker, an offensive guard who played at Alabama. They’re hoping former Texas Longhorn Jaydon Blue, a fifth-round pick, will be a part of the RB rotation as a rookie.
With its second and third-round picks, Dallas went defense with Boston College EDGE Donovan Ezeiruaku and East Carolina CB Shavon Revel, who was a projected first-round pick before tearing his ACL last year.
In other scheduling news, Washington will play host to Philadelphia in a rematch of the NFC Championship Game on Saturday of Week 16 on Dec. 20. That matchup will be part of a doubleheader on FOX that also features Green Bay at Chicago. Kickoff times were not announced.
FanDuel has the Eagles as +700 ‘chalk’ to win Super Bowl LX, while Buffalo and Baltimore share the next-shortest odds on the board (+750). Kansas City and Detroit are +850 and +950, respectively.
