Updated on Sunday, 1/28/24, at 12:40 p.m. Eastern.  As of early Sunday afternoon, most betting shops had Baltimore (14-4 straight up, 12-6 against the spread) installed as a 4.5-point home favorite vs. Kansas City in Sunday’s AFC Championship Game at 3:00 p.m. Eastern. Circa had moved the Ravens to -5. The total was 44 or Ravens, 49ers are both home favorites in conference-championship games

Chargers’ Justin Herbert is out for the rest of the season

Los Angeles Chargers star quarterback Justin Herbert will undergo season-ending surgery today on his broken right index finger. His streak of 62 consecutive games started, the second-longest active streak behind only Buffalo’s Josh Allen (84), will end in Thursday night’s game at Las Vegas. Steelers’ Pickett has ankle surgery, out for several games

Pittsburgh starting quarterback Kenny Pickett underwent ankle surgery this morning to accelerate the healing process in hopes of returning later this year. The second-year signal caller will miss multiple games. Pickett left yesterday’s 24-10 home loss to Arizona late in the second quarter and didn’t return. 49ers’ All-Pro safety Talanoa Hufanga has torn ACL

San Francisco (7-3 straight up, 5-5 against the spread) has responded to its three-game losing streak by posting back-to-back wins, including Sunday’s 27-14 non-covering win over Tampa Bay as a 13.5-point home favorite. Bengals’ Burrow has torn ligament in wrist, out for the rest of the season

Cincinnati star quarterback Joe Burrow needs season-ending surgery to repair a torn ligament in his right wrist. The NFL is investigating the team’s reporting of Burrow’s status going into last night’s 34-20 loss at Baltimore as a four-point road underdog. Cardinals are benching QB Joshua Dobbs

Colts’ Richardson out indefinitely with sprained AC joint

Indianapolis rookie starting quarterback Anthony Richardson is out for an indefinite period of time after injuring his throwing shoulder in Sunday’s 23-16 win over Tennessee as a 2.5-point home underdog.
