We’re now one month into the NFL season, and the markets are getting even more efficient.
I’m not wild about many of the point spreads in Week 5, so we’re going to get creative with some parlays and teasers.
Chicago Bears/New England Patriots moneyline parlay (-165)
We’ll start with the Patriots against the Washington Redskins. New England has allowed 27 points in four games, and faces a Washington offense scrambling to field a quarterback. Colt McCoy will start. As 15-point favorites, the Patriots should win.
Chicago-Oakland should be a much closer game.
Fading the Raiders in London has worked the last two seasons. Oakland scored eight points in 2017 and three points in 2018, losing by an average of 24.5 points. The Bears allow 11.3 points per game and Khalil Mack gets to tee off on his former team.
6-point teaser: Los Angeles Chargers-Denver Broncos under 50.5, Tennessee Titans-Buffalo Bills under 45.5
Broncos games average 40.8 total points with a season high of 50. Chargers games average 41 total points, with one game of more than 50 — a Week 1 overtime win. Unders are 7-0 in Denver’s last seven against AFC West opponents, and unders are 9-2 in Los Angeles’ last 11 against AFC West opponents.
Bills games average 34.8 points this season, going over the teased total of 45.5 just once against a terrible Giants defense. Titans games average 32.3 points in the last three weeks. Tennessee’s Week 1 blowout of the Cleveland Browns was the team’s only game that went over this teased total.
