Things were already bad in Fayetteville, where new head coach John Calipari’s first season has been a monumental disappointment to date.
Things got even worse late last night when Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports reported that Arkansas star freshman guard Boogie Fland will miss the remainder of the season due to a hand injury sustained in Saturday’s loss at Missouri.
In 18 games this year, Fland is averaging 14.9 points, 5.7 assists, 3.4 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game. He has an outstanding 103/28 assists-to-turnovers ratio.
Fland has buried 35-of-96 launches from 3-point land (36.5%) and 52-of-62 free throws (83.9%). He is second on the team in minutes played, logging an average of 34.0 minutes per contest.
Fland leads the Razorbacks in assists and is second in scoring, steals and free-throw percentage. Before Saturday’s loss at Missouri when he was held to four points, Fland had scored 19, 15, 14, 12, 22, 12, 16 and 20 points in the Hogs’ eight previous games.
Have we seen Fland play for the final time as a Razorback? More than likely.
In the latest 2025 mock at nbadraft.net, Fland is listed as the No. 7 overall pick in the first round.
Arkansas (11-7 straight up, 4-13-1 against the spread) is 0-5 both SU and ATS in SEC play and hasn’t tasted a victory since a 92-62 win over Oakland on Dec. 30. Cal’s squad will try to change that tonight when it hosts Georgia as a one or 1.5-point home favorite.
As of early this afternoon, the total was set at 140 points.
Without Fland, Arkansas will have to go with an eight-man rotation.
