Rising junior point guard Boogie Fland is staying with the Florida Gators through the 2026-27 season, he announced early Thursday afternoon.
“I love being a Gator. I really do love being a Gator,” Fland told Florida Victorious. I just love how everything ended, and I feel like there’s still some unfinished business. With the staff, we’re excited for year two of being a Gator.”
Fland started all 35 games and helped UF to a 27-8 straight-up record and a 19-16 against-the-spread mark. The Gators won the SEC’s regular-season title and earned a #1 seed in the 2026 NCAA Tournament.
However, Florida’s season ended in disappointment this past Sunday when it dropped a 73-72 decision vs. Iowa as a 10.5-point favorite in Tampa. Fland finished with seven points, four assists, two rebounds, one steal and one blocked shot. However, he committed one of his three turnovers at a costly moment with UF leading at crunch time.
On the bright side, Fland was outstanding at the defensive end against Iowa star Bennett Stirtz, who had 13 points, five assists and five rebounds. Stirtz went 5-of-16 on field-goal attempts and missed all nine of his launches from 3-point land. He averages 20.2 PPG and has made 38.2 percent of his treys this season.
Fland was one of the nation’s premier perimeter defenders all year long. He averaged 11.6 points, 3.5 assists, 2.5 rebounds and 1.7 steals per game. Fland made 44.7 percent of his FGAs, 24.0 percent of his 3-pointers and 72.6 percent of his free throws.
As a freshman at Arkansas in 2024-25, Fland started in 18 of 21 games. He averaged 13.5 points, 5.1 assists, 3.2 rebounds and 1.5 SPG. His shooting splits were 37.9/34.0/83.3.
In UF’s 114-55 win over Prairie View A&M in the opening round of the NCAAT, Fland produced 16 points, four assists, two steals, one rebound and one blocked shot. He buried all six of his FGAs, both is his 3-pointers and both of his free throws.
Fland scored in double figures in seven of UF’s last nine games, including a 22-point effort in an 84-71 win at Texas.
Florida is awaiting similar decisions from Rueben Chinyelu, Alex Condon and Thomas Haugh, who is a projected lottery pick in most NBA mock drafts. Condon is considered a late first-round pick or an early second-round selection, but most mocks have Chinyelu in the second round.
At the minimum, all three players are expected to test the NBA waters.
