Florida power forward Alex Condon told ESPN’s Jeremy Woo and Shams Charania today that he’s coming back to school for his senior season.
The 6-foot-11 Aussie has helped the Gators to three consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances, including the program’s third national title when they beat Houston in the finals of the 2025 NCAA Tournament. UF was upset by Iowa in the Round of 32 last month.
“It’s not the result that we wanted at the end of the year,” Condon told ESPN. “I think we’re a better team than that. So, [we] left a bit of unfinished business with the Gators. So to go back to school and compete — we know what it’s like to win a national championship, and that’s the No. 1 goal for me.”
Condon garnered third-team All-SEC honors for the second straight year. In 34 games, he averaged 15.1 points, 7.5 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.4 blocked shots per game. He made a career-best 55.6 percent of his field-goal attempts.
Condon certainly wasn’t to blame for the loss to the Hawkeyes. He produced 21 points, seven assists, five rebounds and one steal in the losing effort.
As a sophomore during the 2024-25 campaign, Condon averaged 10.6 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.3 BPG. He had 12 points, seven rebounds and four steals in UF’s 65-63 win over the Cougars.
Condon made the SEC’s All-Freshman Team during the 2023-24 season. In 36 contests, he averaged 7.7 points, 6.4 rebounds, 1.3 blocked shots and 1.2 APG.
Before fouling out on a controversial call in a 102-100 loss vs. Colorado in the first round of the 2024 NCAA Tournament, Condon had six points, seven rebounds, six assists compared to only one turnover, two blocked shots and one steal.
Condon joins starting point guard Boogie Fland, SEC Sixth Man of the Year Urban Klavzar, rising junior forward Isaiah Brown and reserve guard Alex Lloyd in announcing their returns to Florida for the 2026-27 campaign.
Many think the National and SEC Defensive Player of the Year, Rueben Chinyelu, will also return to school. He’s a mid-to-late second-round pick in most 2026 NBA mock drafts.
Thomas Haugh, who is a projected first-round pick on the fringe of the lottery in most mocks, is reportedly 50/50 on whether he’s coming back to Gainesville or entering the draft. A recent report indicated that he would likely announce his decision upon his return from a vacation he’s currently on in Hawaii.
FanDuel has reduced Florida’s odds to win the 2027 NCAA Tournament from 13/1 to 12/1 since Condon’s news broke earlier today. The Gators have the third-shortest odds behind Michigan (+600 or 6/1) and Duke (+850).
If Haugh announces he’s coming back, don’t be surprised if UF moves into the ‘chalk’ role ahead of the Wolverines.
