Sacramento (50-36 straight up, 48-37-1 against the spread) star guard De’Aaron Fox says he’s playing in Wednesday’s crucial Game 5 at home vs. Golden State. In fact, Fox said, “There’s no if, ands or buts … I’m playing.”

In the fourth quarter of Sunday’s 126-125 Game 4 loss to the Warriors, Fox sustained a fracture on the tip of his index finger of his left shooting hand.

Unfortunately for Fox, all individuals with a smooth jumper know that the last part of your shooting hand to touch the ball on release is the tip of the index finger. When the news of Fox’s injury broke on Monday morning, it was reported that he was ‘doubtful.’

Since then, however, he’s been upgraded based on his comments. He had already been moved from ‘doubtful’ to ‘questionable’ before his quotes from late this afternoon.

When the line opened Sunday night, most betting shops had the Kings installed as one or 1.5-point home favorites with a total of 237.5. As of early Tuesday afternoon, most books had Golden St. (46-40 SU, 40-44-2 ATS) favored by four with a 232-point tally. Mike Brown’s team was +145 to +150 on the money line.

After Fox’s remarks, Golden St. was adjusted from -4 to -1.5. The total has moved from 232 points to 235.

In the first four postseason games of his career, Fox has been spectacular. He’s averaging 31.5 points, 7.0 assists, 6.0 rebounds and 2.5 steals per game. The sixth-year veteran had 38 points, nine rebounds, five assists and one steal in Sunday’s loss in San Francisco.

During 73 regular-season games, Fox averaged 25.0 points, 6.1 assists, 4.2 rebounds and 1.1 SPG. He shot at a 51.2 percent clip from the field.

The Kings went 4-5 in the nine regular-season games that Fox missed. Davion Mitchell moved into the starting lineup in each instance, averaging 9.2 points and 4.0 assists. The second-year guard out of Baylor had 12 points, one rebound, one assist and one steal on 5-of-8 field-goal attempts in Game 4.

Mitchell had 14 points, three assists (compared to zero turnovers), two rebounds and two steals in Game 2.

After Sacramento won Games 1 (126-123) and 2 (114-106) at home, Golden St. responded with a 114-97 win in Game 3 despite the absence of Draymond Green, who was suspended without pay for one game by the NBA.

Steve Kerr’s team is an abysmal 11-32 SU and 11-30-1 ATS in 43 road assignments this year. Sacramento owns a 25-18 SU record and a 20-22-1 ATS mark in 43 home contests. The Kings are 6-6 ATS with five outright wins in their 12 games as home underdogs, going 2-1 both SU and ATS in three such spots vs. the Warriors.

However, the lone win for Golden St. as a road favorite at Sacramento came on April 7 when the Kings rested Fox, Domantas Sabonis and Kevin Huerter. Meanwhile, the Warriors were full strength in that game, which was obvious as they were favored by 10.5 points.

With the series knotted at 2-2, FanDuel had Golden St. listed as a -270 ‘chalk’ (before Fox’s afternoon comments) to advance to the Western Conference semifinals. The Kings were +220 underdogs.

Now FanDuel has the Warriors as -215 favorites with Sacramento at +180 on the comeback.
