Edwards likes Jazz +6.5 at New Orleans

We went 2-0 with our NBA picks in this article about last night’s game between the Hawks and Kings in Sacramento. We had the Kings -8 and ‘under’ 238 points in Sacramento’s 122-107 win over the Hawks.

As of this morning, most books had New Orleans (25-18 straight up, 24-18-1 against the spread) installed as a 6.5-point home favorite tonight vs. Utah. The total was 239 points, while the Jazz were +210 on the money line.

Tip-off is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. Eastern in The Big Easy.

Since Dec. 13, Utah (22-22 SU, 27-17 ATS) is 15-6 SU and 16-5 ATS. Eleven of those wins have been by at least eight points and eight of the victories have been by margins of 11 points or more.

The Jazz have lost back-to-back games, though, albeit by six combined points, vs. OKC (134-129) and at Houston (127-126 in overtime).

In six head-to-head meetings since the start of last season, Utah is 5-1 SU and 6-0 ATS against New Orleans. The Jazz have already beaten the Pelicans twice this year, collecting a 105-100 win as a 3.5-point home underdog on Nov. 25.

Two nights later, Utah won 114-112 over New Orleans as a 6.5-point home underdog. When they met in New Orleans on Dec. 28, the Pelicans won a 112-105 decision, but the Jazz covered as a nine-point road underdog.

Utah is 12-4 ATS with 10 outright wins in its last 16 games as an underdog. New Orleans has lost three of its last five games both SU and ATS.

PREDICTION: Utah Jazz +6.5.
