Bovada initially listed Tim Tebow at +375 to play a game during the 2021-22 season.
His odds moved quickly to +145 last week and are now off the board due to some news that came out on Tuesday. Jacksonville is expected to sign Tebow to a one-year contract later this week or next week, according to multiple reports.
The Jaguars would sign the former NFL quarterback as a tight end under head coach Urban Meyer, who coached the 33-year-old during his college career at Florida. Sportsbooks updated their prop options for Tebow after the news was released.
BetOnline has Tebow at +110 to make the 53-man roster, offering a takeback price of -150 on ‘No.’ There are already five tight ends on Jacksonville’s roster: Chris Manhertz, James O’Shaughnessy, Luke Farrell, Ben Ellefson and Tyler Davis.
Tebow has been out of football since the 2015 preseason and has spent the last six years as a broadcaster and professional baseball player. BetOnline released some other props for him as well, but they are all contingent on him being on the roster and active for Week 1 of the regular season.
The offshore sportsbook lists him at +425 to take a snap at quarterback in Week 1, listing the other side of the prop at -800. They also have a prop for the first type of touchdown that he will score.
Tebow catching a touchdown pass is the -175 favorite, while rushing for a touchdown is +140 and throwing a touchdown is +400. Again, he must be active and on the roster in Week 1 or the bets push.
BetOnline also came up with a creative prop involving Tebow’s 2019 home run total with AAA Syracuse, where he hit four long balls. His home run total from that season is -500 to be higher than his total touchdowns scored in 2021, which includes receiving, rushing and passing.
DraftKings is not expecting Tebow to find the endzone this season. He is -500 to go ‘under’ 0.5 receiving touchdowns and his season receiving yards total is 12.5. The ‘under’ is -150, while ‘over’ 12.5 yards is +120. Both props have action regardless of whether or not he makes the roster.
Tebow is 33/1 to win the Comeback Player of the Year award at DraftKings. Dallas’ Dak Prescot is the +175 ‘chalk’ after suffering a gruesome leg injury last season.
