Former UFC fighter Rodrigo de Lima died Sunday in Belém, Brazil after an argument with his rideshare driver.
According to reports, de Lima and the driver got into an argument, which resulted in the 26-year-old getting out of the car. The driver then ran over de Lima from behind and fled the scene.
Authorities are looking for the driver, identified as Jefferson Roger Maciel.
De Lima was married and had two children. He was 9-3-1 as a professional MMA fighter, including UFC losses to Neil Magny (2014) and Efrain Escudero (2015).
Condolences to de Lima’s family after what appears to be a senseless death for a healthy young man with a long life ahead of him.
