The Miami Hurricanes received great news this morning when star quarterback D’Eriq King announced that he’s returning for the 2021 season.
King, a transfer from Houston, has had a huge impact on Miami’s offense is his first season in South Florida. After the Hurricanes averaged just 25.7 points per game in 2019, they scored at a 34.0 PPG clip with King under center.
In 10 games, he’s completed 63.6 percent of his throws for 2,573 yards with a 22/5 touchdown-to-interception ratio. King also has 520 rushing yards, four TDs and a 4.3 yards-per-carry average.
For his career, King has 7,498 passing yards and an incredible 72/15 TD-INT ratio. In addition, he has 1,941 rushing yards and 32 TDs with a 5.2 YPC average.
King played wide receiver at times for Houston as a freshman and a sophomore. He has 60 career receptions for 505 yards and three TDs.
Miami is currently a 2.5-point underdog vs. Oklahoma St. in the Cheez-It Bowl on Dec. 29 in Orlando. The Hurricanes will take an 8-2 straight-up record and a 6-4 against-the-spread mark into the showdown vs. the Cowboys.
