Kawhi Leonard is ‘out’ of Game 5, maybe longer

Kawhi Leonard will miss tonight's Game 5 at Utah, prompting books to move the Jazz from -2.5 to -7.

Los Angeles Clippers star Kawhi Leonard is ‘out’ of tonight’s crucial Game 5 at Utah due to the knee injury he sustained in the fourth quarter of his team’s Game 4 win Monday night at Staples Center.

Leonard initially stayed in the game for a couple of possessions. However, when there was a break in the action for a timeout, Tyronn Lue took him out for the rest of the game.

More testing needs to be done but according to multiple reports, the team fears that he has damage to his ACL. The additional testing will be performed once the swelling goes down, but it sounds as if Leonard won’t be able to play for the rest of this series.

Utah had been listed as a 2.5-point home favorite for tonight’s home game. However, with Leonard ‘out,’ the number has ballooned up to -7. The total has gone from 221.5 or 222 points down to 220.5. The Clippers are now +240 on the money line.

Leonard’s absence will result in more playing time for Terrance Mann and Luke Kennard.

Utah veteran guard Mike Conley is also ‘out’ tonight for the fifth straight game. Conley is nursing a hamstring injury sustained in a Game 5 home win vs. Memphis.

DraftKings now has the Jazz as a -360 ‘chalk’ to advance to the West finals, while the Clippers are +275 on the comeback.

The Clippers had +550 odds to win the NBA Finals yesterday, but they’re now +1300 at FanDuel.
