Jets’ Adam Gase favored to be next NFL head coach fired

Are the Jets poised to move on from Adam Gase if they lose Sunday vs. Arizona? The oddsmakers think so.

The hot seat is getting much hotter for several NFL head coaches.

Offshore sportsbook BetOnline has released odds for the next head coach to get fired. The name
at the top of the list is going to come as a surprise to nobody who follows the league.

Adam Gase and the New York Jets are off to a 0-4 start this season, which has him listed as a –
175 favorite to be the next head coach canned in 2020. He went 7-9 at the helm last year, which
was good for a third-place finish in the AFC East.

Gase would become the second head coach to get fired in the NFL this season. Houston parted
ways with Bill O’Brien, who was also the GM of the team, earlier this week after the Texans
failed to notch a win in their first four games.

O’Brien reportedly had a “heated exchange” with star defensive end J.J. Watt and defensive
coordinator Anthony Weaver on the practice field the week of Houston’s game against
Pittsburgh. Watt called O’Brien out for his coaching ability, which led to the players revolting
against their head coach.

BetOnline also released odds for O’Brien’s next move in the NFL. He is a +160 ‘chalk’ to
become an assistant coach and is +250 to become a head coach in 2021.

O’Brien is priced at +200 to not be coaching or analyzing football on TV next year. He is +500
to become a college football head coach and +600 to be a TV analyst.

Another coach on the hot seat is Atlanta’s Dan Quinn, who coached his team to a fourth
consecutive loss on Monday night. Quinn is +250 to be the next coach to lose his job after
blowing double-digit fourth quarter leads twice this season.

Detroit’s Matt Patricia is also struggling to gain fan support and is +400 to be the next coach
fired. The Lions are 1-3 and Patricia, who is in his third year with the team, has a 10-25 record
overall. They are coming off back-to-back fourth place finishes in the NFC North.

Dallas fans are clamoring for defensive coordinator Mike Nolan to lose his job after a disastrous
start to the season on that side of the ball. Nolan is a close friend of head coach Mike McCarthy,
so BetOnline is pricing him at -500 to keep his job for the rest of the regular season.

Bettors can grab +300 on Nolan to be fired during the regular season if they think McCarthy is
going to change his mind.
