Washington and Oregon State have been trending in opposite directions.

The Huskies have dropped three of their last four games, failing to cover the spread in all three losses. The Beavers have won three of their last four games, covering the spread in all three victories.

Now, the two sides will meet for a late-night game on Friday, with Washington traveling to Corvallis as a 10-point road favorite. The Huskies are 5-4 both straight up and against the spread, while the Beavers are currently 4-4 SU and 6-2 ATS). The total for ‘over/under’ wagers is 65 points, and the Beavers have +300 money-line odds.

Washington’s last two games have been narrow defeats, losing by four points against No. 12 Oregon and by five points to No. 9 Utah. Chris Petersen’s team allowed a double-digit second-half lead over the Ducks to slip away.

Junior quarterback Jacob Eason is the leader of the Huskies offense, passing for 2,297 yards and 20 touchdowns through nine games.

Eason’s favorite targets have been wide receiver Aaron Fuller and tight end Hunter Bryant. Fuller has 43 catches for 582 yards and six touchdowns, while Bryant has 557 receiving yards on 36 receptions.

Running back Salvon Ahmed leads the team with 128 carries for 712 rushing yards and seven touchdowns. Freshman Richard Newton has chipped in 64 attempts for 326 yards and six scores.

Oregon State has won games against UCLA, California and Arizona over the last month, although the Beavers did drop a 52-7 decision to Utah at home in between wins against the Bruins and Golden Bears. Much of that success can be attributed to the play of senior QB Jake Luton, who has 1,930 passing yards and a stellar 19/1 touchdown-to-interception ratio.

Junior wideout Isaiah Hodgins is one of the leading receivers in the conference with 895 yards on 63 catches. He also leads the team with 12 touchdowns, as no other receiver has more than two.

Running back Artavis Pierce has 112 carries for 697 yards and six touchdowns. Jermar Jefferson has added 78 attempts for 401 yards and four touchdowns.

Washington has the better defense, coming in at 55th in the country. Its strength has been against the pass, with the rush defense ranking 74th out of 130 FBS teams.

The Beavers have struggled defensively, ranking 104th overall.

Despite failing to cover the spread in three of its last four games, Washington is still 8-4 ATS over its last 12 contests. The Huskies are 5-2 ATS in their last seven games against Oregon State.

Washington has also been good on Friday nights, winning seven of its last eight games in that spot.

Money has been on Washington so far, with 74 percent of the tickets and 81 percent of the cash on the Huskies, according to Pregame. Bettors are also expecting this game to go ‘over’ the total, as 77 percent of the tickets and 96 percent of the cash have been on the ‘over.’

The Pick: Washington -10

Washington has won its last seven games against Oregon State, including five covers, and I don’t see that ending on Friday. While the Beavers have a little momentum, it has come against poor opponents.

Washington’s losses have come against quality teams, outside of the hiccup at Stanford. Oregon State’s defense will get shredded by Eason, who was able to lead the Huskies to a decent offensive output against strong defenses the past two weeks.

Washington’s defense will allow some points, but it is a good enough unit to get a few crucial stops, which will be all the Huskies need to cover this spread.
