Edwards likes Ragin’ Cajuns as home ‘dogs in SBCCG

Levi Lewis has a 72/18 career touchdown-to-interception ratio and 13 rushing TDs.

This time of year, we’re going to have a lot of games where teams are playing without their head coaches, who have recently taken different jobs. In this instance here in the Sun Belt Conference Championship Game, we have that scenario because Billy Napier is the new HC at Florida. However, his condition with UF in taking the job was that he be allowed to coach his Ragin’ Cajuns one last time and win a championship at home this Saturday.

His Louisiana players aren’t bitter at him for leaving. Hell, it’s the exact opposite. They love him for staying this season, turning down SEC offers from Auburn and South Carolina to stick with his guys.

They want to send him out a winner. And guess what? Louisiana has already played Appalachian St. this year at this same venue.

The result? The Ragin’ Cajuns dealt out woodshed treatment and we backed them in their 41-13 win over the Mountaineers as 4.5-point home underdogs.

UL has won 11 games in a row since a season-opening loss at Texas. During Napier’s four-year tenure, the Ragin’ Cajuns have compiled an 11-4-1 spread record with seven outright wins in 16 games as underdogs. They’ve won outright in both games as home ‘dogs on Napier’s watch.

We have a huge advantage at the QB position. Senior Levi Lewis has enjoyed a spectacular career. Lewis has 8,723 passing yards (second in school history behind only Jake Delhomme) with a 72/18 TD-INT ratio. He also has 971 career rushing yards and 13 TDs.

PREDICTION: Lousiana +3 for 3-4 units and +125 on the money line for one unit.

**Note: There are a lot of 3’s out there as I post this on Wednesday morning. If your line is +2.5, you probably want to buy that half-point to the key number of three. Do I think we’ll need it? No, but it’s better to be safe than sorry.
