DraftKings is taking parlays on future bets; Edlow likes ‘Bama, Clemson & the Pats in 3-teamer

Tom Brady-New England Patriots-DraftKings Sportsbook-DraftKings taking parlays on futures-Alabama Crimson Tide-Clemson Tigers-

Tom Brady has led the New England Patriots to 10 consecutive AFC East division titles. If we discount the season when he tore his ACL in Week 1, the Patriots have won the AFC East 15 straight times.

For those of you that are able to operate DraftKings Sportsbook, there are some advantages to be had from a parlay standpoint.

While this doesn’t apply to every bet, DKSB allows users to parlay some heavily favored futures outcomes. Some of them are just too juicy to pass up, so here’s a look at a couple of parlays I love. These parlays can get us reasonable odds when combined, and hopefully win us some cash when football season comes to a close.

New England Patriots to win AFC East (-590), Clemson to win ACC Championship Game (-500) and Alabama to make the playoffs (-305)
Three-leg parlay odds: -115

This is my favorite parlay, which sparked my interest in finding these heavily favored futures parlays.

The Patriots have won the AFC East in 10 consecutive seasons, and the last time they failed, Tom Brady tore his ACL in Week 1 (the Pats still tied the Dolphins with 11 wins). If we waive Brady’s missed season, New England’s won the division in 15 consecutive years.

I just don’t see this streak coming to an end now, especially with the next closest team being the Jets, who are projected for 3.5-fewer wins.

Clemson’s win total is set at 11.5, and you have to lay juice on the ‘over.’ While Clemson is every bit as good as Alabama, this just isn’t the SEC. The Tigers should be favorites of at least two touchdowns in every game they play this season, and will almost certainly be double-digit favorites in the ACC Championship game.

Clemson demolished Pittsburgh 42-10 in this game last year, so believe it or not, getting them -500 now is a steal.

We’ve seen five years of the College Football Playoff in existence, and Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide have participated each year. That includes reaching or winning the title game in the last four seasons.

‘Bama’s win total is juiced up at -167 to go over 11 wins, meaning we may see another perfect regular season. The Tide was 14-0 heading into last year’s championship against Clemson, and will be seeking revenge this year. Best believe we’ll see them in the field.

If you’re interested in playing it even safer, here’s another way to look at parlaying futures on the same three powerhouses.

New England Patriots to make playoffs (-1250), Clemson to win ACC Atlantic (-910) and Alabama to win SEC West (-360)
Three-leg parlay odds: -190

It’s not quite the juice, but this is as safe as it gets. If by some miracle you feel the Jets have a shot at the division, you know we’ll continue to see the Patriots in the postseason.

With Miami in the ACC Coastal, the next-highest team to win the ACC Atlantic is FSU at +1200. And the Seminoles are 27.5-point underdogs at Clemson in Games of the Year spreads. Let’s face it, even if Clemson loses somewhere along the way, it’s finishing atop the division.

Georgia and Florida are both in the SEC East, so the only other team in Alabama’s division that could even sniff the division is LSU at +600. But the Tide has dominated that very matchup with eight wins in a row, and that game will be in Tuscaloosa this season. ‘Bama should be fine here, and likely take the division by a game or two.

Other potential parlay pieces to consider if you want to add to either parlay for better odds: Oklahoma to reach BIG 12 Championship game (-500) and Appalachian State to win the Sun Belt’s East division (-305).
