Christmas Day brings presents, joy and…a full slate of NBA action.
The 2019 lineup will be headlined by a blockbuster matchup between the Los Angeles Clippers and the Los Angeles Lakers. In a much-anticipated meeting between the LeBron James/Anthony Davis combination squaring off with the Kawhi Leonard/Paul George tandem, the game opened as a pick ’em on Friday.
The Lakers and Clippers also play on opening night. Leonard and the Clippers are two-point favorites in that game.
A new-look Houston Rockets squad will play against Golden State on Christmas Day as well. The two offensive juggernauts also opened as a pick ’em.
On Saturday, Golden State forward Draymond Green — a three-time All Star — agreed to a four-year, $100 million max contract extension with the Warriors. Green’s agent, Rich Paul, told ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski the news.
Green’s extension pays him $22.2M, $24M, $25.8M and $27.6M over the life of the deal. The Warriors now have a combined $129 million committed to Green, Steph Curry, Klay Thompson and DeAngelo Russell next season.
The Christmas Day slate opens with a meeting between Boston and Toronto. The reigning NBA Champions opened as two-point favorites against Kemba Walker and the Celtics.
In another Eastern Conference showdown, Milwaukee faces Philadelphia. The 76ers, who are looking to finally break the seal and make an NBA Finals appearance for the first time since 2001, are slated as 3.5-point home favorites.
The fifth game of the day is a Western Conference matchup between New Orleans and Denver. The Nuggets are heavy 8.5-point home favorites against Zion Williamson and the Pelicans.
