Green Bay has probably been the most fascinating team to handicap this NFL offseason.
The Packers have seen their odds move drastically due to offseason drama with quarterback Aaron Rodgers. He missed the entire offseason program and missed out on a $500,000 workout bonus.
They eventually voided the final year of his deal and agreed to review his contract situation after this season. Green Bay was once priced at 40/1 to win the Super Bowl at the Westgate SuperBook before moving the Packers to 12/1 after Rodgers showed up for practice in late July.
Bettors are starting to re-gain trust in the reigning MVP and his team now that the season approaches. VSiN’s Ben Fawkes reported a $19,000 wager made on Green Bay to win the Super Bowl at the Bellagio.
If the Packers win the title, the bet would pay $266,000. This wager comes after multiple large NFL conference bets were placed at BetMGM sportsbooks two weeks ago.
The Packers are listed third among title contenders at offshore sportsbook BetOnline. Kansas City is a +525 ‘chalk,’ while defending champion Tampa Bay is +600. Buffalo (12/1) and Cleveland (14/1) are both listed behind the Packers (11/1).
Rodgers has the fifth-shortest MVP odds (12/1). Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is +500, Dallas signal-caller Dak Prescott is +750 and Buffalo quarterback Josh Allen is +900. Matthew Stafford is listed ahead of Rodgers with 10/1 odds.
The Packers have a season win total of 10, with the ‘over’ juiced to -150. They are priced at -230 to make the playoffs.
Green Bay will wrap up its preseason slate with a game at Buffalo on Saturday afternoon. BetOnline currently has the Bills listed as 7.5-point favorites with a total of 35.
