Post-UIGEA Wagering: An Analysis of Online Sportsbooks Options for Football Wagering in an Uncertain Climate (Part II)...By David Stalcup

In Part I of this article, a suggested list of football books was given. Part I showed how each book could be used for a particular style of handicapping and/or wagering. Part II will add three additional books to the list and discuss the various issues facing the American bettor concerning deposits/withdrawals and book safety. The list of recommended sportsbooks is as follows:

BetJamaica
The Greek
WSEX
Bookmaker
5Dimes
LooseLines
Sportbet
Skybook
Tradesports
The Pig
BetGuardian
Carib

The above sportsbooks are in no particular order, as each book offers something unique to the American sports bettor. As far as safety is concerned, each of the above books is highly regarded by the offshore industry. There are currently no issues known by this writer that should prevent a bettor from trusting his money at any of these books.

Many books are currently experiencing delays in processing deposits and withdrawals because of the absence of payment processors like NETeller. Americans no longer have the option of a viable "e-wallet" that they can use to easily move money in and out of their sportsbooks' accounts. American bettors must due their due diligence concerning deposits and withdrawals all over again, because the deposit and withdrawal options (and time frames for completion) vary widely now from book to book. Bettors must choose a sportsbook based upon its ability to take deposits and withdrawals using the methods that are acceptable to the bettor. With those issues in mind, here is a detailed list of the sportsbooks already mentioned, and their banking options.

* BetJamaica

BetJamaica is currently paying out by check faster than any other sportsbook. On several occasions the past few months this writer has requested a paper FEDEX check from BetJamaica and has always received it within two business days. BetJamaica also has a debit card available for withdrawals that a client can use to get cash at many ATMs around the world (see website for details). Bettors are entitled to one free payout per month for all available methods. Bettors are entitled to two free withdrawals per month when using the BetJamaica debit card. As far as deposits go, American bettors may fund their accounts using cash services (such as Moneygram or Western Union), by FEDEXing a check, or by bank wire. BetJamaica is a full juice book catering to the "recreational bettor" market, but because it is paying out so quickly and has so many banking options it should be included in this list.

* The Greek

The Greek is currently paying out by FEDEX check in less than a week (usually three business days). Bettors are entitled to one free payout per month by FEDEX check. As far as deposits go, American bettors may fund their accounts using cash services (such as Moneygram or Western Union), by FEDEXing a check, or by bank wire. There is also an "e-check" option available on the deposit page at: http://www.thegreek.com/deposits.asp, but this writer is not aware if this is a truly viable deposit option at this time.

* WSEX

WSEX is currently paying out by FEDEX check in less than two weeks. Most times the check will arrive in one week, but some bettors have experienced delays of up to two weeks. Bettors are entitled to free unlimited payouts per month by regular mail check, FEDEX withdrawals are $30. WSEX offers more deposit options to American bettors than most books, such as: credit card, bank wire, and cash transfer.

* Bookmaker

Bookmaker is currently paying out by FEDEX check in less than 3 weeks. In speaking with other players, it has been found that payouts are generally being processed in less than two weeks. Bank wire is also an option for payouts. Bettors are limited to only one payout per week, and payouts by FEDEX check cost $60 (unless the client is eligible to use 2500 loyalty points to get a free payout, contact customer service for information). Bookmaker also offers more deposit options to American bettors than most books, such as: credit card, bank wire, and cash transfer.

* 5Dimes

5Dimes is currently paying out by FEDEX check in less than 2 weeks (cash transfer is also available). Bettors are entitled to one free payout by FEDEX check every 30 days if the request is made between 9:00am-1:00pm eastern on Mondays, and if the amounted requested is over $500. If the requested amount is under $500, the check will be sent for free by regular mail if made between 9:00am-1:00pm eastern on Mondays. Options for deposits are: cash transfer, bank wire, check/money order.

* LooseLines

LooseLines is currently paying out by FEDEX check in less than two weeks. The maximum payout per check is $3000 and the cost is $65 (cash transfer is also available, client assumes all fees). Deposit options are: cash transfer and bank wire. LooseLines' website states that more options may be available for depositing, contact customer service for details.

* Sportbet

Sportbet was not mentioned in Part I of this article because the book doesn't really fit in to any of the categories that were listed there. However, because of the weekly betting specials at Sportbet (such as the best bet promotion, free 1/2 point promotion, etc.) and the fact that they are paying out so quickly, Sportbet deserves a mention here. Sportbet is paying out by FEDEX check in less than a week (usually 2-3 business days). Payouts by FEDEX check are $40. Deposit options are credit card and cash transfer.

* Skybook

Skybook is another book that wasn't mentioned in Part I, but it deserves a mention here for its free 1/2 point on all football wagers (not applicable off the "3" or "7", $500 max bet). Payouts are limited to cash transfers and bank wires, the client assumes all fees. All payouts are being processed in under two weeks. Deposit options are: credit card, cash transfer and bank wire.

* Tradesports

Tradesports is processing payouts by check or bank wire, usually in one to two weeks. There are many options for deposit, including: cashiers or personal check, money order, bank wire and credit card. Payouts by regular mail check are free.

* The Pig

The Pig offers payouts by cash transfer (fee varies), bank wire (flat $80 fee) and FEDEX check (one free check per month, $50 each thereafter). All payout methods are currently being processed in less than one week. Bettors can make deposits using all the above methods.

* BetGuardian

BetGuardian is processing payouts by cash transfer in one day (fees vary), and checks in less than two weeks (one free per month for a payout of $300 or more). Payouts are limited to one per week. Bettors may deposit using: credit card, check, bank wire or cash transfer.

* Carib

Carib is another book that wasn't mentioned in Part I. However, Carib has long been a great option for football wagering due to their weekly specials (see website for details). Carib is processing payouts by FEDEX check and bank wire in under two weeks. Bank wire fees vary and FEDEX checks are $30. Deposit options are: bank wire, credit card and cash transfer.

It should be noted that most of the sportsbooks listed above also offer book-to-book transfers (in many cases the transfer is free). Please contact the customer service center of the book you would like to do a transfer with to get the current list of books (if any) it does book transfers with.
