Default Are there stock forums online where u can follow tipsters

Or handicappers etc, and can do well, kind of like sportsbetting with people who post their records and buy sell recommendations,
is it 'easy money?' following the right people, like daytraders, and seeing how they do for a month or 2 and then jumping on their advice?
Any opinions, just wondering...

nehpets,

I used www.google.com to search for Stock Forums and posted a few
links below.
I find that there's a lot of good comments found for individual
stocks at www.clearstation.com

The discussion boards at www.yahoo.com there's a lot of nonsense, so
I don't really use those. This is about the only forum I post at.
Will continue to search this subject.

What are you looking for? Are you thinking about Day Trading?
Commodities? I try to post up and coming companies that have
innovative products. XSNX and PEFF being two of them.

thanks for visiting Stock Talk.
best of luck,

baz

I like the recommendations from Bazanster, and plan to check them out.
A thought as well as a question is the value of Jim Cramer's show on TV
( Mad Money? ), or if he still has a website. He has lot's of recommendations,
and is very entertaining, but I wonder what his record is for public predictions

Major Tom,

Sorry for not getting back to you sooner.
September is a very busy month.
Cramer seems like a season trader.
Some of the Stocks that I've followed which he suggested
did very well. Noticed that the Stocks tend to rally after
he suggest them. He has a large following on a National
level, so that shouldn't be a great surprise.
The problem with him is that he covers a large volume of stocks.
One could perhaps set up a WatchList at www.clearstation.com
just for his selection.
Another difficulty is that one doesn't know his exit points or the
stake of his wager.
Like Football Handicappers, if you don't write down their picks each week,
it hard to know for sure how they've done other than their word.
It would be good if he had a site dedicated to his picks.

As far as the Market, it been tough going.
There's a lot of uncertainty about the economy and it's direction.
Coming reports will reflect high summer oil prices.
Exactly how much Traders will discount recent oil price declines is unknown.
September has a tendency to be a rough month.
Would look to short Homebuilders in weaking Markets.
Real Estate looking more vulnerable.
Good time for Speculators to short copper.
Another way to short Copper is to Short Phelps Dodge.
The US largest Copper producer. The stock closed at 84.05
Now it may rebound a bit here because it was off -$7.04 (-7.73%)
This is off from it's 102.08 High last May.
Would wait for some kind of rebound, then short.
A short term conservative play:
January 2007 Put 75.00 Strike PDMO@ 4.40($440)

January 2008 Put 72.50 Strike WZPMD which close @ 4.40($440)
We'll keep and eye on this play and see how it does.
If the economy slows, the entire Metals complex should see a
substantial correction.
There's an expectation that Coffee will fall considerably within the next
12 months.

gl,

baz
