Default Bird Flu plays

Someone sent me an e-mail complaining about George Bush and Cheney and Rumsfeld, etc. I guess Rumsfeld owns stock in one of the few companies that can produce a bird flu vaccine. That company is GILD, and with the billions at stake here, they might be a decent play. It's a bit like Haliburton at the start of the Iraq conflict/war.

Another of the possible vaccine companies is pretty small and I just glossed right over it. Another is Chinese. I'm not ready for companies from China.

That leaves NVAX as the play for me. Picked some up for $3.98 on Friday.

It's a bit creepy trying to make money off the bird flu thing, but I promise not to help spread it.

There's billions of dollers at stake here, and even if the flu doesn't hit the U.S., I'm sure the U.S. will be helping with the relief effort wherever the vaccine needs to be dispensed.

Default RE:Bird Flu play - NVAX

Well, it hasn't worked out as the short term play I thought it would be, only up to $4.40 from my $4 buy in price.

Still, NVAX should be up around $10 this time next year.

this stolen from the yahoo message boards this morning:

"Bottom line...Easily a 20 dollar stock by early next year with a present value somewhere between 7-9 dollars based on anticipation and a high probability of execution in more than one area.

Dug up the info with UofPitt, their three part approach to "all" flus which will provide revenue opportunities with or with out the avian flu. Products in the pipe just one step behind Estrasorb, w/ significant revenue potential.

If you wrote off yesterdays CC because of Rahul's rapid approach, I would suggest you listen again and you will pick up more facts than you realized.

32 million in cash,
Estrasorb big money maker already.
Flu vaccine going into human trials soon, Connections with all the right players which further indicates they will get funding efficiently when the time comes,
Clearly the best in class w/ no competition.
Bright's decision to come aboard

Well known Vaccine researcher working w/nvax,(research their history with NIH/govt funding and vaccine research and find UofPitt is no walk in the park)
The great thing about this vaccine research is it will "not" be wasted time because they will produce a supperior product for the seasonal flu alone(from Bio Cc) Plenty of revenue in that area given the present absence of a true "just in time" match to "all" existing strains."

my own 2 cents:

As a company, they look pretty solid right now without any of the bird flu mania involved.

The congress has appropriated funds for the flu, the question is who gets the checks? Nvax looks to be in a good spot to get some gub'ment funding.

Some funds, like Oppenheimer are buying up tons of shares.

Partnership w/ Pitt Univ. is a huge surprise. Pitt claims to have come up w/ the cure for the bird flu.

Novavax Inc (NASDAQ: NVAX)

Last August this stock was under a $1.
The stock spiked up to a high of $6.01 last fall.
The MACD is trending down and now at -0- and the
MACD Histogram is slightly nder -0-.
Stocastic rebounding and at about .33

Have to agree with accumulating this stock.
At some point, there will probably be another "flu" scare.
Real or imagined. The Stock has traded steady up
between a trading range of $3.35 to 4.75 on flat volume.
Would look for significant jump in the Daily Trading VOlume Average
to provide a clue to when the stock may surge again.
We have had this stock on the Watch List since 03/28/04,

good luck on this one
and have a Great All-Star Weekend

In an attempt to thwart the spread of bird flu, George W. Bush has bombed the Canary Islands.

lol KarmaGuy.

NVAX is taking off. It's 10:50 EST and it's up 10% today already.

It's a good feeling. A bit like going over a total by halftime.

NVAX closed at $7 today, which is a nice jump from my $4 purchase price.

I think the whole bird flu sector has been going gangbusters since my first post in this thread.

Still no gub'ment contracts announced.
