DOW +96.97 Friday(+)

CnnMoney:
Stocks surge: U.S. stock indexes look set to build on their
record-setting performances.
The Dow Jones industrial average and S&P 500 have both added
more than 2.5% since the start of the year. The Dow is now
trading near the 20,300 point level.
The tech-heavy Nasdaq index has also turned in a very strong
performance, gaining 6.5% since the start of 2017.

U.S. stock futures were inching up on Monday and could be
on track for new all-time highs.
Most European and Asian markets were also positive.

OPEC oil report: Investors will be watching to see
if OPEC cut crude production in January.
OPEC and other major producers agreed to slash oil production
late last year and it looks like they're sticking to the plan.
Last week, the International Energy Agency announced the cartel
was 90% in compliance.

Vote for Trump's money man: The U.S. Senate is scheduled to vote
Monday on whether to confirm Steven Mnuchin
as President Trump's treasury secretary.
Mnuchin, whose resume includes time as a Goldman Sachs (GS) banker
and a Hollywood film producer, has faced pushback from Democrats
throughout the confirmation process.
They've raised questions about his financial dealings and his time
as CEO of OneWest Bank, which has been accused of lending discrimination
and unfair foreclosure practices.

Shares in Restaurant Brands International (QSR) are set to be in the
spotlight as the company reports earnings ahead of the open.
The company owns Burger King and the Canadian coffee chain, Tim Hortons.

DOW Futures currently +38.00

Will keep running with the Bulls,
Going with UP on Monday,

DOW +142.79 Monday(+)

CnnMoney:
Roses are red, markets are too: There's a fair bit of red in the stock markets right now,
but losses aren't so steep that they'll break your heart.
U.S. stock futures are shifting a bit lower.
Most Asian markets are in negative territory. Stocks are mixed in Europe.
The lackluster action comes after U.S. stocks hit fresh record highs on Monday.

The Dow Jones industrial average and S&P 500 have both rallied
by between 3% to 4% since the start of the year.
The Nasdaq is up a whopping 7%.
Shares in iPhone maker Apple (AAPL) are trading near their highest level ever.

Janet Yellen in the hot seat: Federal Reserve chief Janet Yellen
is giving semi-annual testimony to the U.S. Senate at 10 a.m. ET.
The Fed is considered the driving force behind the multi-year bull market rally in stocks
since the Great Recession.
What Yellen says about the timing and magnitude of future interest rate hikes could keep
the rally going full steam ahead -- or stop it dead in its tracks.
The Fed last raised rates in December.

Credit Suisse, Rolls-Royce: Shares in Credit Suisse (CS) are rising by about 3% after
the European bank said it would cut up to 6,500 jobs. It also reported that it lost 2.4 billion
Swiss francs ($2.4 billion) in 2016.
Rolls-Royce (RYCEY) is having a tough day in London trading.
Shares in the aircraft engine-maker fell by about 4% after the firm warned
that pre-tax profits in 2016 were down 49%.
The British engineering giant said in January that it reached settlements
with authorities in the U.K., the U.S. and Brazil over bribery allegations.
These large settlements contributed to the drop in profit.

Earnings and economics: Dr Pepper Snapple (DPS), Molson Coors (TAP),
and T-Mobile (TMUS) are releasing earnings before the open Tuesday,
while Caesars Entertainment (CZR) and Fossil (FOSL) plan to report
earnings after the close.
On the economic front, new data shows the U.K. economy is experiencing
higher inflation following its decision to leave the European Union.

Futures currently -10.00

Going with DOWN on Tuesday, risky play.

DOW +92.25 Tuesday(-)

CnnMoney:
Retailers go to Washington: The chief executives of major retailers
including Target (TGT), JCPenney (JCP), Best Buy (BBY) and Gap (GPS)
will travel to Capitol Hill on Wednesday.
They're making the trip to lobby against a "border adjustment tax"
proposed by congressional Republicans.
Retailers are particularly vulnerable to such a tax because they
sell a high volume of imported items -- clothes, electronics or
general merchandise -- that could be made more expensive under the proposal.

Unstoppable stocks?: U.S. stocks keep hitting fresh record highs.
Over the past four trading days, the Dow Jones industrial average,
S&P 500 and Nasdaq have consistently climbed to new heights.
U.S. stock futures are holding steady on Wednesday.
Even a small move higher at the open would mean more records.
European markets are mostly positive in early trading
Asian markets are mixed.
The head of the U.S. Federal Reserve -- Janet Yellen --
could give the markets a direction when she testifies before Congress
for a second consecutive day starting at 10 a.m. ET.
On Tuesday, Yellen signaled in her testimony that the next interest rate hike
could come as early as March.

Earnings and economics: PepsiCo (PEP), Groupon (GRPN) and Hilton Hotels (HLT)
are the main firms reporting earnings before the open Wednesday.
Cisco Systems (CSCO, Tech30), TripAdvisor (TRIP), GoDaddy (GDDY), CBS (CBS)
and Kraft Heinz (KHC) are set to release results after the close.

DOW Futures currently +15.00

DOW +107.45 Wednesday(+)

CnnMoney:
Time to take a breather?: The Dow Jones industrial average, S&P 500
and Nasdaq have all closed at record highs for five consecutive days,
something investors haven't seen since 1992.
But with U.S. stock futures looking a bit soft,
the streak may have run its course.

European markets are mostly negative in early trading.
Asian markets are closing the day with mixed results.

Merger moves: Shares in Anthem (ANTM) are set to drop at the open
because of turmoil over its planned merger with Cigna (CI).
The companies had been pursuing a $54 billion merger.

#ADayWithoutImmigrants: Restaurants and other businesses across the U.S.
will be closing their doors Thursday in support of a "Day Without Immigrants,"
a national grassroots movement seeking to protest President Trump's immigration reforms.
The protests could hit the restaurant industry especially hard.
Foreign-born workers provide the vast majority of labor in the sector.

Earnings: Shares in Air France-KLM (AFLYY) are surging by 8% in Europe
as investors cheer the company's annual 2016 results.
Charter Communications (CHTR), Build-A-Bear Workshop (BBW), Hyatt Hotels(H),
Cabela's (CAB) and Wendy's (WEN) are some of the top firms reporting earnings
before the U.S. open.

US Futures currently -34.00

DOW +7.91 Thursday(-)

CnnMoney:
Samsung scandal takes new turn: The de facto leader of Samsung --
South Korea's biggest conglomerate -- has been arrested on corruption allegations.
Lee Jae-yong has been under investigation as part of the huge political corruption
scandal that has rocked the country.
Prosecutors are accusing him of bribery, perjury, concealing criminal profits,
embezzlement and hiding assets overseas.
Samsung and Lee have denied the allegations.

Trump visits Boeing: President Trump is heading to South Carolina on Friday
to visit one of Boeing's (BA) factories.
This comes just months after he publicly attacked Boeing for the cost of its
planned Air Force One.

Stock markets sinking: U.S. stocks have spent the past week setting new record
after new record.
The stock market is having its best performance in the first month of a rookie president's
term since the 1960s.
The push higher has been attributed to President Trump's plans to boost business, cut taxes
and deregulate various sectors of the economy.
But investors are now pausing to catch their breath. U.S. stock futures are declining a bit
ahead of the opening bell.
European markets are sinking in early trading. The majority of Asian markets are closing
the week with small losses.

Another flurry of earnings: A busy week of earnings wraps up with quarterly numbers on
Friday morning from Campbell Soup (CPB), Deere (DE) and Moody's (MCO).

Wells Fargo tries to repair damage: Wells Fargo (WFC) will give investors a peek into its efforts
to rebound from its fake account scandal when it releases monthly customer account numbers
and holds a conference call on Friday.

The bank has reported a dramatic decline in consumer checking account openings in recent months.
It's now looking to shut more than 400 branches.

Futures currently off -62.00

Tried to short Market twice during this record breaking week,
both time turned out to be dumb moves. Well for the donkey ears...

Going with UP on Friday,

DOW +7.91 Friday(+)

New York Stock Exchange Closed for Washington´s Birthday.

CnnMoney:
Will the Trump rally continue?:
The stock market has been performing well ever since Trump took office.
The Dow and S&P 500 are at record highs. Investors will be curious to see
if the stocks can keep it up next week.
Investors are hoping that Trump can lower corporate taxes.
That might encourage American companies to invest more, open more plants
and buy more companies. Janet Yellen has also expressed confidence in the
U.S. economy by raising rates in December and hinting that more rate hikes
will come this year.

Don´t usually post on Holidays but ....

The global arms trade has risen to its highest level since the end of the Cold War.
The spike was fueled by conflicts in the Middle East, tensions in the South China Sea
and the perceived threat from Russia to its neighbors, according to a study by the
Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI).
The U.S. is by far the world's biggest arms exporter, accounting for 33% of all weapons
exports in the five years through 2016, the SIPRI report said.
Russia was the second biggest supplier, with China third.

"The U.S. has delivered a lot of weapons in 2016, both very expensive weapons
and strategically important weapons -- missile systems, surveillance and navigation
technology," said Aude Fleurant, the director of SIPRI's arms and military expenditure program.
"The weight of the U.S. in the global arms trade is so big that it's enough to shape the trend,"
Fleurant said. It has delivered major weapons to at least 100 countries over the five-year period,
significantly more than any other exporting country.
Of all the weapons the U.S. exported in the last five years,
47% ended up in the Middle East. The main buyers were Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Turkey.

DOW +118.95 Tuesday(+)

CnnMoney:
Getting greedy: Wall Street is on a major winning streak.
The Dow Jones industrial average posted an eighth consecutive record
on Tuesday. The S&P 500 and Nasdaq are also sitting at their highest levels ever.
Will the rally continue? It's hard to say: U.S. stock futures were little changed on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the CNNMoney Fear & Greed index shows that investors are feeling "extremely greedy".
Some of the enthusiasm is based on the expectation that President Trump will cut taxes and industry
regulations.

Most European stock markets notched gains in early trading.
Asian markets were closing the day with mixed results.

Earnings: Elon Musk's electric car company Tesla (TSLA) will report
its fourth quarter earnings after the markets close.
Shares in Tesla have surged 30% since the start of the year.

FOMC Minutes usually tough days to call.
Bulls running too hard here.

DOW Futures +95.00

DOW +34.72 Thursday(+)

CnnMoney:
Dow records: The Dow Jones industrial average has now closed at
a record high in 10 consecutive trading sessions.
Will its momentum hold? U.S. stock futures weren't
making any big moves on Friday.
The gravity-defying run matches the index's best streak
of consecutive records from 1987. Market historians might
ominously note that 1987 was also the year that the stock
market suffered its worst one-day drop ever.

Hopes for tax cuts and a rollback on regulations from President Trump
and the Republican-led Congress have helped to fuel investors optimism.
The Nasdaq and S&P 500 also hit record highs earlier in the

Elsewhere, global stocks were having a rough Friday. European markets
were lower in early trading, and most Asian markets closed the week with
modest losses.
The CNNMoney Fear & Greed index shows that investor sentiment
is pointing towards extreme greed.

Foot Locker (FL), J. C. Penney (JCP) and US Cellular (USM)
are releasing earnings before the open.
Berkshire Hathaway (BRKB) will release its earnings
and annual report on Saturday morning

DOW Futures currently -67.00

Might be a suckers bet, futures off quite a bit.

Going with DOWN on Friday,

DOW +11.44 Friday(-)

CnnMoney:
Record run: The Dow has closed at a record high for 11 consecutive trading sessions.
It's now creeping closer to the 21,000 point level after blowing past 20,000 points in late January.
Another strong performance on Monday would match the index's 12-day streak of record closes from January of 1987.

U.S. stock futures were little changed ahead of the open.
There was little enthusiasm in international markets:
European stocks were mixed in early trading,
while Asian markets ended the day with small losses.

The British pound was weaker following reports that Scotland
could call for a second independence referendum over Brexit.

Will Trump get his commerce secretary?:
The U.S. Senate is scheduled to vote Monday on
billionaire Wilbur Ross' nomination as commerce secretary.

Earnings: Sotheby's (BID) and Shutterstock (SSTK) are among the
key firms reporting earnings ahead of the opening bell.
Hertz Global (HTZ) and Priceline (PCLN) are reporting results after the close.

Tried going short Friday, looked good until the last 30 minutes as the
Market had sharp rally.

Not tyring that again.

Going with UP on Monday,

For the second week in a row, the Dow finished higher each day and brought its streak of record closes to 11 trading days.

Overall, markets are up more than 10% since Trump’s election, and the administration is loving it. In an interview with CNBC last week, Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said the market is “absolutely” a scorecard for the economy. On that basis, then, everything is going well at the start of the Trump era.

Market history tells us, however, that a decline in stocks is coming.
The only question is when.

Why you should always be ready for a big, scary stock market sell-off

DOW +15.68 Monday(-)

CnnMoney:
Lucky 13?:
The Dow Jones industrial average has now posted 12 consecutive record closes.
That's only happened twice in 120 years.

If the red-hot index is able to extend its streak of record closes to 13 on Tuesday,
it will be in uncharted territory.
The Dow is also closing in on its longest streak of up days (not record highs).
That mark was set in 1897 when the market rose for 14 consecutive trading days,
according to Bespoke Investment Group.
The index is in good company: The S&P 500 hit new record highs on Monday
and the Nasdaq is also close to record levels.
U.S. stock futures are holding steady on Tuesday morning.
Investors have pushed stocks higher in recent months in part
because of optimism over pro-business policies promised by President Trump.
He will address a joint session of Congress on Tuesday.
European markets are mostly positive in early trading.
Asian markets ended the day with mixed results.

Target (TAIEX) is among the most high-profile companies reporting earnings
on Tuesday ahead of the opening bell.
Target shares have dropped by about 7% this year, missing out on the Trump rally.
This earnings report will be an opportunity for the company to turn things around.
Domino's Pizza (DPZ), AutoZone (AZO), Valeant Pharmaceuticals (VRX)
and SeaWorld Entertainment (SEAS) are also reporting earnings Tuesday morning.
Salesforce.com (CRM), Taser (TASR), Weight Watchers (WTW) and Etsy (ETSY) plan
to release earnings after the close.

Until the Bulls stumble, making the trend my friend.
Statistically, the odds may be on the bears side.

Going with UP on Tuesday,

gl and thanks for visiting

“I think what people are missing is this date, March 15th 2017.
That’s the day that this debt ceiling holiday that Obama and Boehner
put together right before the last election in October of 2015.
That holiday expires. The debt ceiling will freeze in at $20 trillion.
It will then be law. It will be a hard stop.
The Treasury will have roughly $200 billion in cash.
We are burning cash at a $75 billion a month rate.
By summer, they will be out of cash.
Then we will be in the mother of all debt ceiling crises

DOW -25.20 Tuesday(-)

CnnMoney:
Dow streak ends: The Dow Jones industrial average declined on Tuesday.
That's not normally huge news. But this particular decline stopped the index's
historic streak of consecutive record closes as 12.
Investors shouldn't despair, however: The Dow has risen by an incredible
2,500 points since the U.S. presidential election.

The Dow shed 0.1% on Tuesday, while the S&P 500 lost 0.3%
and the Nasdaq dropped 0.6%.

Fed as spoiler:
It was chatter from central bank officials that appears to have spoiled the fun.
William Dudley, president of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, told CNNMoney's
Richard Quest on Tuesday that the case for monetary policy tightening has become a
"lot more compelling."Dudley said that interest rates could be raised in the "relatively near future."
Other Fed officials have offered similar hints about a potential rate hike.

Trump's big speech: President Trump delivered his first speech to Congress on Tuesday,
striking a more statesman-like tone. Still, there was little detail on policy.
"A politically interesting, but economically dull speech," said Kathleen Brooks,
research director at City Index Direct.
U.S. stock futures were higher on Wednesday morning.
"He offered just enough to keep bulls happy,"
Accendo Markets analysts wrote in a note to clients.

Global market overview: European markets were all around 1% higher
in early trading. Most Asian markets ended the session with gains.
Japan's Nikkei advanced almost 1.5% as the yen weakened.

DOW Futures currently +88.00

Going with UP on Wednesday,

DOW +303.31 Wednesday(+)

CnnMoney:
Dow 21,000: The Dow Jones industrial average soared 303 points on Wednesday to close
above 21,000 for the first time.
The record-setting performance followed President Trump's prime time address to Congress,
which struck a more optimistic tone than other recent speeches.
The speech was, however, thin on policy details.
If anything, Trump gave fewer specifics on major issues like tax reform,
Obamacare and deregulation than many expected.

The Dow has now skyrocketed 2,700 points since Trump's election victory
in November. The S&P 500 and Nasdaq have also posted major gains and are
sitting at all-time highs.
U.S. stock futures were little changed ahead of the opening bell on Thursday.
European markets were mostly lower in early trading. Stocks in Asia were mixed,
with Chinese markets in negative territory.

Earnings: Barnes & Noble (BKS), Kroger (KR), Sears Holdings (SHLD)
and Abercrombie & Fitch (ANF) will release earnings before the open.

Costco (COST) is set to release earnings after the close.

Dow Futures currently -4.0

DOW -112.58 Thursday(+)

CnnMoney:
The hangover: It was fun while it lasted but investors are now dealing
with a post-rally hangover.
European and Asian markets were trading in negative territory on Friday
and U.S. stock futures were pointing to a weak open.
It's a sharp change in mood for U.S. stocks, which rallied to hit record
highs earlier this week after President Trump delivered a well-received
address to Congress.

Investors have pushed stocks higher in recent months because of optimism
over Trump's plans to cut regulations and slash taxes.

When the head of the U.S. Federal Reserve speaks, investors listen.
Fed chair Janet Yellen is set to give a speech at 1:00 p.m. ET in Chicago,
Illinois, to discuss her outlook for the U.S. economy.

Fed vice chairman Stanley Fischer is also giving a speech on Friday
about monetary policy in New York. It's due to start at 12:30 p.m

Announced early Monday, the agreement will create a new European autos giant,
bringing the Opel and Vauxhall brands under the control of France's PSA.
GM is also selling its European financial arm to PSA and French bank BNP
Paribas (BNPQY).
The combined value of the deals is about $2.3 billion. Shares in PSA were
4% higher in Europe.

Deutsche Bank raising billions: Deutsche Bank (DB) is asking investors for
$8.5 billion to help improve its financial health after two years of
heavy losses. Germany's biggest bank announced plans for the huge share
sale on Sunday along with another overhaul of its strategy.

Global markets:
European markets were awash in red on Monday, with top indexes in France
and Germany both off more than 0.5%.
Asian markets ended mixed. The Nikkei shed 0.5% after North Korea fired four
ballistic missiles into waters off Japan.
Chinese stocks advanced after the government said Sunday that it's targeting
growth of "around 6.5% or higher if possible" in 2017.

Fed sets U.S. agenda: U.S. markets closed flat on Friday after Fed chair
Janet Yellen signaled that an interest rate hike would likely come when
Fed leaders meet next week.

"The markets are locked, loaded and ready -- a move is priced in, near-
unanimously expected by forecasts, who on balance now also agree with
the Fed's projection of three moves this year," Societe Generale strategist
Kit Juckes said Monday.
The only thing that could change the Fed's plan is weak economic data, giving
extra significance to Friday's U.S. jobs report.

U.S. stock futures were pointing to a negative open on Monday,
but they remain near record highs.

DOW -51.37 Monday(+)

Economics in focus: There are plenty of economic puzzle pieces
to put together on Tuesday.
The U.S. Census Bureau will release its trade balance report for
January at 8:30 a.m. ET. The numbers are expected to show the U.S.
trade deficit with the rest of the world widened to about $49 billion
from $44.3 billion, meaning the country was importing more than it was
exporting.

Looking further afield, a new report shows the eurozone economy grew
by 1.7% in the fourth quarter. This was in line with expectations and
slightly slower than U.S. growth over the same period.

However, German industrial orders in January delivered a nasty shock,
slumping 7.4%.
Brazil will also release GDP numbers for the fourth quarter.
They're expected to show the country remains deep in recession,
notching up eight consecutive quarters of economic contraction.

Earnings: Dick's Sporting Goods (DKS) is set to release earnings
before the open Tuesday, while H&R Block (HRB) and Urban Outfitters (URBN)
are set to release earnings after the close.
3. Global market overview: Markets have lacked direction
since U.S. stocks hit record highs last week.
U.S. stock futures were dipping on Tuesday morning.
European markets were mostly declining in early trading.
But most Asian markets ended the day with small gains.

On bond markets, prices for U.S. 10-year Treasuries are sinking,
pushing up yields to 2.5%. This comes as the vast majority of
investors expect the U.S. Federal Reserve to hike rates next week.

despite worries over the future of crown jewel sports channel ESPN.

Stock market overview: Global stock markets were relatively calm on Wednesday.
Most European markets were steady in early trading. Asian markets closed
the day with mixed results.
U.S. stock futures look a bit soft.
The Dow Jones industrial average, S&P 500 and Nasdaq have now slipped
in two consecutive trading sessions. U.S. stocks had been on a massive
winning streak before they lost momentum at the end of last week.

Chinese trade: China reported a rare trade deficit in February equal
to about $9 billion. However, the country's trade data are frequently
distorted this time of year.

Still, it's the first monthly trade deficit China has reported in three years.

U.S. jobs report preview:

DOW -69.03 Wednesday(-)

CNNMoney:
Bull market birthday: America's bull market turns eight years old on Thursday.
The S&P 500 has shot up an incredible 250% since March 2009.
But it would have to charge ahead for another four years to match the length
of the longest bull market in history, which ran between 1987 and 2000.
Investors aren't in much of a celebratory mood on Thursday.
"The phenomenal stock market rally has displayed some signs
of exhaustion this week with investors on high alert ahead
of the looming European Central Bank meeting and [U.S. jobs report] this Friday,"
said Lukman Otunuga, a research analyst at FXTM.

U.S. stock futures were holding steady following three consecutive days of declines.
European markets were mixed in early trading.
Most Asian markets ended the day with losses.

Watching Europe's central bank:
The European Central Bank will issue a decision on interest rates at 7:45 a.m. ET,
but no major policy changes are expected.

Slippery oil: Crude oil futures have rebounded after suffering a sharp fall on Wednesday.
Investors had hit the sell button after a report showed a large increase in U.S. crude inventories.
Crude is currently trading near $50.50 per barrel,
down about 7% from a recent peak in
